Radio 2 star and PopMaster creator Phil Swern has died aged 76 after suffering with a 'long illness'.

Many of his celebrity pals including Tony Blackburn and Ken Bruce were the first to pay tribute to their 'great friend' after hearing of his shock death.

Sharing his devastation on X, Ken wrote: 'It’s the saddest of days as my great friend Phil Swern has passed away.

Brian Trueman, a writer of some of Britain's most beloved childrens' cartoons, including Danger Mouse, Count Duckula and The Wind in the Willows, has passed away at the age of 92.

Trueman, who also voiced many of the characters in the iconic shows he wrote, passed away after '92 years of happy life', his son Ben Trueman tonight revealed.

Ben added: 'He was clever, funny, resilient, an absolute gentleman, loving and loved. We will all miss him so much.'

Sir Terry Wogan's wife Lady Helen has died, her son Mark confirmed in a heartbreaking post on Instagram.

He shared a black and white image of his parents on the social media platform with the caption: 'Lady Helen Wogan - 1936-2024.'

Lady Helen was married to the late broadcaster for more than 50 years before his death from cancer in January 2016.

Always found it ironic that a couple of cool guys like Herbie Flowers and Kenny Pickett of Creation, one of my favourite bands of the 1960s, had their biggest commercial success by co-writing Grandad for Clive Dunn, Now, sadly, all of them are no longer with us.

I first became aware of him in the '70s when he was cast as the author, Alex Haley, in the TV series 'Roots'; I'd never heard such a wonderful, rich voice - I later read he was offered the part of 'Chicken' George in the same series but for various reasons he never got/took the part. A fine actor who had a good long innings. RIP
