In a similar vein Big Jack apparently once said :

'I wasn't very good at playing football. But I was very good at stopping other people playing football.'

Know thyself as the Greeks were fond of saying.

On Parkinson. Parkie asked what is the difference between you and Bobby? "I can’t play. I can stop other people from playing. But I can’t play. Bobby can play."

It seems he played for City boys, so has a Hull connection. RIP Alex

My husband played in trials for Hull City Boys with Alex in 1953. Alex played for them but my husband missed out. Hull City made an attempt to sign him as an apprentice but he went to Manchester United.

He was chosen to be one of 2 traveling reserves on the ill-fated Munich trip but at the last minute Man Utd decided to only take one and he did not travel.

His song has ended but his melody will linger on.

RIP Alex.

Lovely story Mrs B.

I wonder whether Jock Davidson has any influence on him coming south of the border, as they both came at similar times?

Good to see you back on here Mrs BMB. Haven't seen you on since December. Can't blame you for ignoring what's happened since. Most inept Manager and team in the 70 years I've been a Hull City supporter. Lets hope for some BIG changes before next season begins.

Hope you and Mr BMB are staying safe and healthy. My best to you both !
