He has tweeted that Joe Biden taking a back seat in Westminster Abbey was a slur on America, and that he would have had a much better seat.
There is no way on Earth that is a true figure, it would be 2.5x the previously most watched event in history and 2/3 of the World population.
And although he said he would have been closer, he wouldn't as it was UK VIPs (Some NHS, current/ex Prime ministers etc), Commonwealth leaders, Kings and Queens, then Biden was apparently in the first row available.
Still don’t understand why people should think another person is automatically better than they are, just because of who their parents were. Makes zero sense.
Well yes, except that when you have a system based on hierarchy, that doesn’t matter. We are a country which has 19 of its Prime Ministers educated at one school!
I am and always will be anti class system and for me the royal family represents the pinnacle of what I despise. The bottom line is that the royal family, in any country, is only where it is because at some point in the annals of history, their ancestors took control by force and then rewarded their friends and supporters by giving them land, money and titles. They are no different or better than any other person but they have created a society that protects their status as being people to “look up to” and be subservient to. I wear the not606roundhead title as a badge of honour and would like nothing more for this “elitism” to be ended.
Does the monarchy personally effect me? No. So in turn, I don’t give a ****. I make my own path in life.
It doesn't directly affect me, but the indirect effects are huge and change life chances for me and my children. The Royals are at the top of society, followed by various strata of hereditary peers of various flavours until eventually you get to people like me. Just the existence of hereditary privilege makes life an unfair game for most people as the best jobs, opportunities and education seem to be shared amongst those that society tells us, are our betters. A true meritocracy would be a great thing, but aristocracy is a visible sign that meritocracy isn't actually possible because we don't all start from the same place. Don't get me started though or I'll be muttering about how a meritocracy is never actually achievable for more than a single generation as financial advantages immediately start playing a part and that it all went pear shaped when some bright spark invented money I don't have any answer other than smash it all up and try something new, because respecting the aristocracy and keeping our heads down is a British tradition, and most people take to it like a duck to water.
Top, top post. Im really enjoying the socialist uprising. The cost of living crisis, focus on the monarchy and Truss’ recent gifts to the ultra rich are making me more left wing by the day. October is approaching…
