It has all the hallmarks of manic depression, by the sounds of it. A sudden, huge & violent mood swing on Saturday night, pushes him too far. Manic depression is more dangerous than clinical depression - mostly you can't tell somebody's got it, e.g. Stephen Fry.
Good point actually. Could have had severe bipolar. If he had that, then all his good moods and speaking about the future are just irrelevant if he has a very very bad turn.
