I think that was the beginning of the end for her. It left her broken hearted and she was never the same again. Poor Cilla, she was a good person and looked upon by many as a national treasure. Can't say I was a fan personally but she was harmless enough and to claim that she had no talent is harsh. As GC mentioned above, I doubt that Burt Bacarach would've gone near her if she had no talent. As Sir Bruce said, 'she had the common touch, was loved and will be missed by millions.'

RIP Cilla <rose>
One song Alfie.
Compare that to Dionne Warwick.

As ever, eloquently fair and accurate from my point of view too.

If so, post it up!

Would've been lucky that black & white TV was around then, let alone Youtube! <laugh>

Cilla Black was a respected artist loved by many.

Few people transcend two genres and are successful in both.....whatever said here....I believe that shows talent....a great singing voice in her youth and a naturalness in front of the cameras coupled with a genuine love of people. I agree with 999s....the loss of her hubby was probably too much for her....real respect for a lady who I feel I have known all my life. RIP.

Have heard she was a right cow to be honest.

There was the public persona which gave her (as Bruce Forsyth said) the "common touch" ... but if you were one of the "little people" working in the industry she had absolutely no time for you and treated you like sh!t.

Mind you, that could be said for many, many actors/singers/entertainers.

You think I'm that stupid Sku? Actually, don't answer that...
RIP. Loved how she was so in love with her husband for 30 years until his death.

She was in love with him years after too. Apparently he used to sit at the end of her bed at night and talk away to her

I'd heard that too, from a couple of sources. Still, I guess it's wearing when everyone wants a part of you, as they did in the 60's and 70's.

Hugely talented, and I admired her ambition, professionalism and the fact that, when all around her were failing in their personal lives, she had such a good marriage.
