Started my hull city supporting life watching the Great Chillo and Waggy 1970/71 .. Will always have the fondest of memories of the man and everything he stood for, then he moulded a rough diamond of a striker into a footballer in his coaching days .. RIP to a true LEGEND in every sense of the word.

One of my first football heroes - very sad to hear of his passing. There is some lovely stuff from Mark Herman on Twitter, with some great photos from his scrapbook.
And Chillo's autobiography is a real insight into the life of a (successful) footballer in the 60's and how little financial security football provided in those days.

I am so sad about this , he was atrue gentleman. Getting his autograph at his house near the ground, didn’t phase him .
The forward line of him Waggy,Butler,,Henderson,Houghton.
Dirty Dennis Smith of Stoke in 71 wrestling him to the ground, head butting Duncan Forbes at Norwich.
a true ,honest player
RIP Chris
Thanks for the goals and memories
Condolences to his family

Saw Chillo play many times in the sixties. Endearing memories of him and Waggy in the 65/66 promotion year and of the following year in Div 2. The following season should have seen promotion to the Div ! and at times thanks to Chris and the rest of the team they looked as thought they would do it. Lost count of the the number of times that City were dominant at home but either lost the game or drew much of the time with Chris hitting the woodwork many times or after taking a shot at goal the keeper making a miracle save. Thanks for the memories Chris, indeed a true legend.

Those of us amongst the few City fans at Norwich that day will always remember him nutting Forbes. <cheers>

Shouldn't really like that but we do!

I did think hard before posting it, as I was wondering if he or his family would have minded, but then I saw a few people had mentioned it. I hope they take it with the absolute respect that's intended.

If anyone hears from the family that they'd rather it wasn't here, please let me know and I'll remove it.

RIP to a true gent. <peacedove>

Thing was it was not typical of Chillo. That incident was the culmination of Forbes being a prat right from the kick off.

This is awful news . I can just remember seeing him play . Chris was a great Centre forward for City and Waggys side kick . He was a gentleman too and always found time for fans even many years after he finished playing . City fans will never forget you xxx.
