Pope Francis has died aged 88, the Vatican announced today.

The Pontiff spent his final weeks in hospital with an infection that developed into pneumonia in both lungs.

The Conclave - where cardinals gather in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican to choose a successor - will not happen for at least 15 days

Pope Francis (born Jorge Mario Bergoglio;17 December 1936 – 21 April 2025)

The ‘destiny’ hidden in Pope Francis’ soccer club card

Francis was a lifelong soccer fan — and occasional youth goalkeeper — and a card-carrying member of his favorite club, San Lorenzo.

The number that’s causing the stir is assigned to “regular member” Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the Pope’s birth name: 88235.

And as person after person has pointed out, Francis was 88 when he died, at 2:35 a.m. Argentina time on Easter Monday.

i saw the alarm before they were called the alarm. saw them at the warehouse in leeds supporting someone, maybe the q-tips. they started out being called seventeen, they had a 45, which i bought. don't let go/bank holiday weekend. it was going for £100+ some years back, but eventually came out on a rarities/early stuff cd. i probably missed my chance. wasn't bothered about the alarm though.

Sure I saw them at Spiders once but that might be a complete zapped memory fabrication. Either way they were a good band and Mike Peters a talented guy.

RIP

Another shooting in Sweden with several dead. Things have changed there.
