It'll be Wisdom or Kelly but I wouldn't discount Ilori after he gets some game time - isn't he meant to be very quick?
I thought he was a CB.

Agree with RHC, a bit harsh no?
Yes, he's not the worlds best defender, but he offers our attack a great threat going forward, Wisdom for all his ability isn't as good as Johnson going forward, so surely with that reduced threat down the right, will it make our attack unbalanced? Would most of it end up going down the left with Enrique and Ford and down the middle of the park...
However with the threat he can provide going forward, comes vulnerability, so we may be a bit more solid at the back in that I don't Wisdom will not charge down the right wing as often, swings and roundabouts I guess, Rodgers could push Henderson further out to the right rather than his current roll of inside right, but you then lose his impact in the middle where he's been superb, so far this season.
I thought he was a CB.
He is quite versatile so he can play as a fullback. Wouldn't recommend it though.
Personally, Wisdom and Kelly are good back ups for RB. However, I have concerns about their ability to attack. They're both fast and powerful runners but we need more than that.
Which is why I think McLaughlin is the better option as the long term option for RB.
I thought he was a CB.
He can play right back and has the pace to get up and down the pitch.

For me it has to be Wisdom. Kelly seems to have got to a stage where injuries are potentially going to ruin his whole career. Playing full back seems to be killing him so IMO he should be last resort for RB until he can prove he can stay fit long term. Shame because he would be my choice otherwise.
As far as the Johnson slating goes....I want Downing back as we all need a whipping boy it seems. Not at his best for a while but deserves a bit more respect than he gets from some. Over 250 Prem games and 50 international caps, played regularly under Rafa, Woy (who slated him as I remember...sign of a decent player), Kenny and Rodgers plus he can play either side as well....really ****e player eh.
Johnson will go when McLaughlin is ready in a couple of yeras time. imo.
Bluff City Red:5329185 said:I selected Illori as it seems he has the pace and the guile to play this position. Couple that with a lot of the good CB's we have had ( Carra, Kelly, Wisdom in recent years) played RB to help learn the trade and gain some needed minutes. Just a thought.

This this and this![]()
McLaughlin has a huge future, he rips opposing LB's to shreds and is a great defender. I've seen a lot of this kid and by far he stands out as our most naturally gifted RB in the academy.
Gonna have to pay more attention to the U21/Academy coverage on the LFC TV channel!

I watch every game that's on there
So worth it, as you get to see the young lads progress. I'd go as far as to say McLaughlin is nearly ready to make the step up, absolutely top draw of a player - especially as he's so young. He just has that something special about him, such an exciting player to watch.
Maybe a loan then? Similar position to Luke shaw in terms of age and ability? I know that is hard as he has had a year and some change in the prem but in terms of loaning Mclaughlin to a palace/hull, etc.
Loan to Prem is not allowed now until the Window re-opens?
Could still go out to a Championship team? Maybe Watford, good ball playing team?
