On his day - yes is an attacking outlet. However, he has become more of a liability over the 8 months - can't beat his man, dwells on the ball etc.

Had a great game defensively against Man Utd but I think we can find a better player who is younger and on lower wages.

He is quite versatile so he can play as a fullback. Wouldn't recommend it though.

Personally, Wisdom and Kelly are good back ups for RB. However, I have concerns about their ability to attack. They're both fast and powerful runners but we need more than that.

Which is why I think McLaughlin is the better option as the long term option for RB.

With Johnson out we may need Sterling or Moses to play RF to make up for the loss of width on that side.

He can play right back and has the pace to get up and down the pitch.

For me it has to be Wisdom. Kelly seems to have got to a stage where injuries are potentially going to ruin his whole career. Playing full back seems to be killing him so IMO he should be last resort for RB until he can prove he can stay fit long term. Shame because he would be my choice otherwise.

As far as the Johnson slating goes....I want Downing back as we all need a whipping boy it seems. Not at his best for a while but deserves a bit more respect than he gets from some. Over 250 Prem games and 50 international caps, played regularly under Rafa, Woy (who slated him as I remember...sign of a decent player), Kenny and Rodgers plus he can play either side as well....really ****e player eh.

I selected Illori as it seems he has the pace and the guile to play this position. Couple that with a lot of the good CB's we have had ( Carra, Kelly, Wisdom in recent years) played RB to help learn the trade and gain some needed minutes. Just a thought.

Djimi Traore has a European Cup medal. Doesn't make him world class.

Johnson joined LFC and in his first season, we fall out of the Top 4. Of course, it's not soley down to him.

England are not exactly blessed with right backs (well, the whole squad isn't exactly blessed).

As I said, not saying he's a terrible player but for the amount we paid for him, the amount we're paying him, we could do so much better.

    This this and this <ok>

McLaughlin has a huge future, he rips opposing LB's to shreds and is a great defender. I've seen a lot of this kid and by far he stands out as our most naturally gifted RB in the academy.

I watch every game that's on there <ok>

So worth it, as you get to see the young lads progress. I'd go as far as to say McLaughlin is nearly ready to make the step up, absolutely top draw of a player - especially as he's so young. He just has that something special about him, such an exciting player to watch.

Maybe a loan then? Similar position to Luke shaw in terms of age and ability? I know that is hard as he has had a year and some change in the prem but in terms of loaning Mclaughlin to a palace/hull, etc.

Loan to Prem is not allowed now until the Window re-opens?
Could still go out to a Championship team? Maybe Watford, good ball playing team?
