I think Under Powell we only had about a point a game, under Riga it's was 1.5. If correct that's a massive difference over the course of a season.
Some speculation now as to why Riga hasn't been announced, considering that Meire briefed Rich Cawley on the story last night. Maybe Riga is playing hardball, and insisting on all sorts of ridiculous conditions like being able to choose his own players and signing people with Championship experience. It would be hilarious if Riga told "the Circus" to poke it...although that would leave Fraeye in charge again for tomorrow night FFS
As funny as it would be - I can't have Fraeye any longer. He's absolutely brain dead, which is founded in his full back debacle on Saturday. And his 2 wins in what - 11/12 games?
That phone call between the Bitch and Riga in full: KM: "Bob...sorry....Jose...its Katreeen. We want you back. Your apprentice has f**ked up big time, and now the customers hate us" JR: "But Katreeen, I no understand. The Boss Roland has already sacked me three times before" KM: "Forget it. You were a success every time. Will you work with Carol again? You will. Great. See you tomorrow Guy"
Belgian journo @svenclaes reporting that Fraeye "still coach against Huddersfield" tomorrow night "No confirmation about Jose Riga"
Some may think that relegation is a necessary step to get the Belgians out. If we stay up, I could see the present situation repeating. Patching up the side with veterans and other freebies in January, and selling off any bright youngsters too early to cash in big-time (until we stop attracting decent youngsters and lose our best academy staff). If we do get relegated, it is not impossible we would drop straight through to Div Two. After the Colchester game, can we really say we are any better than Yeovil or Blackpool were when relegated?.
Or Fry cracks under the pressure. He might try and hide it but his body language at his last 2 interviews looks to me like a man struggling to hold it together. Then it might get really interesting.
He might go crazy from repeated humiliations and bludgeon KM to death with a fire extinguisher. It is going to take long-shot like that to save us.
I can't see us go down. As much as I hate the owners I can't see it being a positive. He will still have the academy to pillage and find other ways of raising funds like the ticket office/NHS agreement.
If we do go down under Duchatelet, we won't come back for a long, long time. We will also lose a new generation of fans to West Ham and the Olympic stadium. I am not going to bust my wotsits to get down to the Valley to watch a midweek game v Scunthorpe next season, handing Roland £27 in the process.
Going down could be the death of this great club, but it could also get the Belgians out. I agree with B&M, we will see the exact same nonsense next season should we stay up. Sadly I really don't know what the answer is.
I'll take the chance that the Belgians bugger off should we go down. But agreed we could drop straight into League 2, we f***** whatever way we turn. If we stay up, next season would see a repeat of this so at least we'd get some reaction with a relegation.
We'd all make our individual decisions. UNder new owners at The Valley I'd still be there inL1 or even in L2. The Supreme Leader however will not be getting a penny more from me. Not even Valley Gold, since his stated aim is to sell Academy products on to the Premier League.
If we go down, I still reckon that this would be that ****s press conference. "All the appointments was the right decision every time. Agents against us, like your own favourite, saught to destroy the nature of what we've done here. If only you the customer supported us more, we wouldn't be here."
