The No.1 priority must be getting Fraeye out ASAP. Right now I would take Bernard Breslaw as our new Head Coach.
Riga is an ok appointment - but again he's not being appointed on footballing credentials. The board thinks he is someone who will appease the crowds, whilst being close to the "network" previously. KM won't be looking at win percentages, track records in the transfer market, ability to bring youth through etc. it's another token appointment - which we shouldn't lose sight of.
I rated Riga, but as people have pointed out to me, he had a much better squad at his disposable then he will have now. I hope Riga does well of course. I will however still be at the protests until Katrien leaves. If Riga is a success again can he please get a decent contract rather than this half a season deal again? Excited to be rid of Fraeye hopefully before Tuesday but will leave me judgement on Riga until he has had a few more games..... at least we get to sing the song, "JOSE RIGA BABY"
Riga's success in the final matches came when he reverted, as far as possible, to Chris Powell's team and with Damian Mathew to coach them. In other words, he tried to get back to what had previously worked well. Now he doesn't have Damian Mathew or many of those tried and trusted players. He is just another RD flunky. Nobody with any self-respect would come back in those circumstances. Harriott and Poyet might be pleased to see him back though. They had the best (only?) decent periods of their young careers under him. I would not be surprised to see Sordell return either.
Board did not think he was good enough, so why even consider a return? Does that mke them look even more stupid than they already look ?
Also Riga seems a decent enough chp, for his won sake dont take the job as as soon as you lose a couple you will get the Craol treatment
Only 7% of Charlton fans in my on line poll think Riga's return will be a good decision. 40% so far regard it as an embarrassment.
You can see parallels with the Roger Johnson signing. He did well for us, wanted an extension, was refused, since then his career has gone downhill, now suddenly we want him back, never mind the (secret) reasons for discarding him. It smacks of desperation, and if JR accepts a short contract it will be desperation on both sides. It would be another sign of our chaotic recruitment policy. No managerial candidate has been properly interviewed for the job since the Supreme Leader took over. Who do we have who could conduct a knowledgeable interview anyway?
It seems clear that for as long as Duchatelet owns Charlton, only a select handful of 4-5 people will ever be considered for the position of Head Coach. I think we have met them all now . In the words of the Bitch herself, "Roland has to know and trust the Head Coach". Competence isn't one of the criteria. It is not inconceivable that Peeters and Luzon could also return, after all this would be the 4th time that Douche has employed Riga It is good to see The Times highlighting today what an utter circus of a joke club we have now become. Do you think Karel will go back to being Head of Recruitment? - he was brilliant in that role before
Carol said on Friday that he was not involved in recruitment at Charlton except to give his opinion on Fatboy! He said he did recruitment for the Spanish side...Allacorn (sp)?
He didn't trust Riga enough to keep him on in 2014. What she may have meant was: "The Supreme Leader has to know and trust the head coach to do what he's told without complaint"
Fraeye was quick to tell spectators at The Valley not long after RD took over that he would be on the recruitment side of things. Now - he denies it. So much crap coming out of one club.
Pressed on his role as Head of Recruitment by Louis Mendez, Shakin Fry disclosed that he had only been involved in recommending TWO PLAYERS. Coincidentally he claimed that these players were ex-success Fatekole, and Bauer
I love the way that, on Friday, Carol said that up to October all recruitment was down to Chappel because he was no longer at the Club to defend himself
He did a job when he kept us up. In fairness, there was little difference between his points record and Chris Powell's, so Powell by the same respect would have kept us up indeed. This team however is a shambles, and look what happened when he was at Blackpool, with no backing (which is the way we're heading). This was the perfect opportunity for us to bring in someone worthwhile, how could do a job. But they've only gone an ****ed it up again.
