Ron, yes European trained.

Once again, you've caught me out! I was working from a booklet that only goes as far as the 2008 running of BC so did not count Sweet Life and her progeny. There is one other mare (hint you've mentioned a connection already).

As for the other questions:

The 4 years in which there were no European trained winners were 1989, 1992, 1998 and 2007

The missing mare was HASILI who produced BANKS HILL (2001) and INTERCONTINENTAL (2005) to both win the F&M Turf.

The three generations to all win a BC race were PERSONAL ENSIGN (1988 DISTAFF), her daughter MY FLAG (1995 Juvenile Fillies) and her daughter STORM FLAG FLYING (2002 Juvenile Fillies).
 
I was working out the answer to the last question and was about to ask you not to give the answer just yet. Still, when I've got it I can check immediately.
 
Sorry it took so long Princess. Had to go and help with the horses then dinner came, then I had to play Connect4 with my grandson. It's a hard life in retirement. Still had to do it and sure enough got the answer. Just the one with 3 generations and 4 with 2 (inc the double counting).

(a) what horse was placed in a classic and won the Cambridgeshire?
(b) what horse won the Cambridgeshire and a Grand National?
 
The answer to (a) and (b) is None.
Sorry that wasn't intentional. I should have checked the years and would have realised that, in both cases it was a horse with the same name but couldn't have been the same horse.

Question void. I hope no-one spent too much time on that. I'll be more careful next time.

I spent hours trying to find an answer! Well several minutes anyway :)

Try this one ..... who was the oldest racehorse ever to win under rules in the UK?

The answer may be slightly ambiguous because I'm not sure how far back records go, but the horse in question was during my life time so I'm going for that :)
 
I don't know Reebok. All I can find is Revenge in 1790 and Marksman in 1826 Both at the age of 18. Revenge won in Shrewsbury and Marksman won in Ashford. Best I can do I'm afraid. I do know that good old Crudwell was still winning at the age of 13; I remember him. But then there was Mac Vidi, ?2nd in the Gold Cup at 15. I imagine he was winning races at 15 and I think Man Alive might have won at 16 but not so sure on that one.
 
Well - because there isn't a definitive answer that I can find, and old as I am, even I wasn't around in the 18th century - I'll tell you who I had in mind :)

Sonny Sommers, trained by Fred Winter, won 2 races at 18. Lingfield and Southwell (or was it Chepstow?) A grand old warrior :)
 
Yep. Look what I found:

"February 14, 1980 Sonny Somers, at the age of 18, equalled the record for the oldest horse to win a race in Britain when landing the Star and Garter Handicap Chase at Southwell. Ridden by 20-year-old Ben de Haan (then a 7lb claimer), the sprightly and enthusiastic veteran came home eight lengths clear.

Sonny Somers scored the last victory of his career at Lingfield a fortnight later. He had been an invaluable tutor to several of Fred Winter's jockeys, including John Francome."
 
Mav Vidi was placed in the gold cup at 15 years.

However I also found this ----> Paradise Beach came out top, taking part in - and completing - jumps races and points during the whole of the 1970s and a bit either side, before being retired at the age of 21.

You have a basket containing ten apples. You have ten friends, who each desire an apple. You give each of your friends one apple.

Correct

Three people enter a room and have a green or blue hat placed on their head. They cannot see their own hat, but can see the other hats.

The colour of each hat is purely random. They could all be green, or blue, or any combination of green and blue.

They need to guess their own hat colour by writing it on a piece of paper, or they can write "pass".

They cannot communicate with each other in any way once the game starts. But they can have a strategy meeting before the game.

If at least one of them guesses correctly they win £50,000 each, but if anyone guess incorrectly they all get nothing.
