Indeed, but it never happens. Teams don't suddenly flick a switch and think 'let's just knuckle down and bat for two days final innings'. Mental and physical tiredness has taken over by then. Even if we score no more runs and are all out in an hour tomorrow Australia still will not win.

As for the Broad incident, only just seen it as have been on the beach all evening but after yesterday I say **** it. Ordinarily he should walk but Trott was not out yesterday and they also must have heard him hit it.

Both sides will have to live with **** decisions all this series.

For two days is a rarity I know and my point wasn't really that they could bat for two days more that they could bat better than first innings just as we've done today (bear in mind that was posted just after tea when the lead was a lot less than now). There hasn't been massive turn still for Swanny and I still think this one's not over yet. Remember we lost our last 4 wickets for just 2 runs in the first so the lead could still be achievable with a day and a half left.

We've really fought hard today and I'm over the moon with how Bell went about his innings. Patient and yet rarely got bogged down for too long without picking off the bad balls and dispatching them for boundaries. Should be another good days cricket tomorrow and I wouldn't bet against a few more twists and turns yet. We're now in a good spot...fingers crossed we ram our advantage home <ale>

Enjoy the atmos <ok>

Bell and Broad have both gone this morning but we've got the 300+ lead I wanted to see

82-0 need another 230 to win. We need to break this partnership as the pitch doesn't seem to be offering much assistance.

Could be a very nervy finish tomorrow. Their lower order are no mugs so if these 2 can get them close anything is possible. Could be another edgbaston......

its really down to one hero... cricket is interesting in that it affords each player an individual chance to take the glory and be the hero.... right now there's two australians the entire game hinges or and for us there's swan who's yet to really break into stride.

you never know who's going to turn the thing next.

It does offer the chance to be a hero but that person needs a partner to achieve that aim #gettheothertenoutinstead

yup... but the ehro will be the guy who takes the wickets or socres the runs. borad stuck in but bell got the century and plaudits yesterday.... 50 for the first wicket tomorrow will be sweeky bum time.
