england are playing with 8 batsmen and have been for 2 years.
The issue is they have told bell to do one... who was out of form but he is head and shoulders over these guys. they also ****ed off KP (rightly) so once you instigate a no going back policy you are hurting yourself
IMO england probably should have looked and seen if bell was up to much by now. ... relly is 8 men and primarally the function of the other 2 is take a small bit of skin off that new ball before going for abuot 10 so root and the all rounders can play.

Bells having a shocking year. Still think Morgan could do a job for us or butler again.
yeah there is a real case for either.
this lad malan scored a few last game but windies were awful. so he's back to not scoring faff all this game.
The issues are:
Opener. Haseeb Hameed played so well in india then vanished. Thats really annoying. he looked like a real decent young guy.
No 3. root is not no 3 for me.... this is a huge gap. There is nobody. Morgan won't cut it there.
No 5. is malan up to it.. would morgen fit there.. do you push bairstow to here? its a lot on bairstow imo to wicket keep and move up to here.
So.... if we promote root we expose him to new ball alomost within 5 overs every time and he plays fast so could be done.... its a risk. If we promote bairstow and put in buttler that would be for me interesting.
Could we play buttler no 5?
The opener stuff is so annoying. you are really looking for sound defence and the limited overs game has been shown up as promoting big hitters over sound defence.
