jimmy might take it perosnal though? he can dig in as a night watchman....

Or he might just fancy a bowl....

<laugh>

Difficult day. I think in general bowling at the stumps is best here.... that 12 year old can't catch the thing.

Someone mentioned Compton at the top today. Pushed out because he scored too slowly next to Cook? Well I'd rather have someone scored 50 from 120 balls than someone scored 10 from 5.

Yeah. I dunno.

It's a hard one. Sound defence is key and anyone getting 40 odd is good in my book.

Tomorrow will be interesting. The night watchman could force the other end to play shots to get some scoring but he didn't do too bad defending when broad actually bowled at the stumps.

Deffo need a run of wickets tomorrow.

Openers job is just as much about surviving to get rid of the shine than it is to score tonnes of runs.

If soneone can just just stand there and allow bowlers to waste 20 overs bowling the ball wide and getting rid of that shine then doesn't matter how many runs they score in my opinion (within reason).

Yes it's about taking the skin off the ball and seeing off those first 10 overs. You are right though.... and I terestingly you are right about something else.

England might like the two lads and they might be record holders over the long term but **** me they rarely bowl at the stumps.

At this point I see a lot of openers wanting Jimmy Anderson just to bowl his 8 or 10 overs max and let him bowl as wide as he likes and just watch for the inswinger.

Our batsmen seem all to suffer from a very long seated inability to dug in.

From Nasser Hussain to Andrew Strauss to cook to root. They all are vulnerable to lbws trying to play shots and want to score. I reckon old Atherton is really the only lad you could depend on staying in for hours on end.

We seem to want faster scoring rates, want to complain the games not quick enough etc... dunno why.

First ball break through.... hope gone.

Team looked defeated coming out whichni ****ing hate about England... need to come out with game face on down in aussieland.

71 is the lead
