England are well off in upper order. Let's face it, cook is a bit of a veteran.. then you've no number 2, no number 3/4 as I reckon dropping root to no 4 might generate more runs even.... if you got those then you would think about no 5....
Stokes Barstow alli as 6/7/8 is ideal.
3 main line test batsmen is a big big ask.
Pushing Barstow to 5 is ok IF you have that 2 and 4 as you say as long as you can add another spinner.
I think you're right B/S/A at 6/7/8 is perfect. Root at 4 is good for him but like Clarke for Australia, I think for the team, Root is maybe better at 3 for us so he's not coming in at 30-2. Protects another batsman coming in at 4 as well.
