How true.

Wenger will be the last manager to have had a proper stint. Can't see any manager being given more than 2-3 years from now on. I really hope Klopp stays with us for his full contract length and beyond and the board don't start getting twitchy at the slightest wobble.

The average is now 15 months or something.

at this point its silly imo as if you have to hire and fire entire first team coaching plus buy players you are at nothing.

If you have technical director buying players and telling a head coach here is your players and your coaching staff work with them... well ok but if you are starting from scratch every 15 months it's madness

Loads of speculation that Mourinho will be off to PSG in the summer, hasn't signed a new contract, hasn't moved to Manchester or surrounding area, realises that being at the richest club doesn't mean Pep will not win the title.

So we'll probably find out this summer if the club own his image rights.

Mourinho knows he's not a better manager than Pep and he can't outspend him by a factor of 10, so there's nothing he can do here. The only play he has left is manufacturing some massive argument with the FA/referees/fans so he can pretend he's leaving for reasons other than being outplayed on a weekly basis.

Spot on.<ok>

It's ridiculous, and driven by 2 things imo. Firstly the fear of falling off the PL gravy train and secondly the fact that players are now pampered over paid multi millionaires who have waaaayyy to much power and massive egos. When they're not having a manager because he's had the temerity to tell them some home truths or get them doing something they don't like, they just down tools, as they know they're sat on long multi million pound contracts and that it they lose a few games the manager is likely to come under pressure and ultimately get the boot.

They're basically looking at them and saying "I'll be here long after you've gone you chump"

I find it interesting that reports out of West ham were some players felt bilic let discipline slip.

it suggests that clubs put too much store in players who are back sliders and if you pay for performance or at least 18th = 50% pay cut then the back sliders can't afford to sit on their arse while all about them burns down.

a manager and 5/6 key senior players should be what a club pay attention to. the senior players really have a responsibility IMO thats lost in the modern game.

Messi for example: clearly he is all about his own legacy and winning things. Luis Enrique was on borrowed time for 2 years cos messi didn't like him but messi played for messi and won.

Contrast that to a senior player at west ham or leicester. I suppose all they have to play for is 17th in tbale so expectations are low so if a manager takes away thier chicken brugers they can down tools then get him sacked and manage to look a hero for saving club.... ala vardy.

IMO they cheat the fans

?? ?? I don't know.

I called them image rights. the papers said Mourinho salary is 24 mil. 13mil straight payment
If it's are not using Mourinho image ok. I understand that Chelsea own some part of his name
When you quoted Diego, this is what he'd said that you were replying to - ''Pretty sure United don't pay Jose's image rights''.
Go back and look at his comment, it now says ''Pretty sure United pay whatever Jose asks for''

A quick google brings up - negotiations for his utd move were stalling over Chelsea still owning his image rights. Looks like Diego subtly changed his comment mid conversation last night <laugh>

Yeah, I saw his post saying " pretty sure United don't pay Jose's image rights", he also edited a post on our matchthread v West Ham, he's certainly having 2nd thoughts about what he really thinks these days.<laugh>

This is the big problem for me. Players owe it to the fans to give their all, regardless of whether they get on with the manager or owners or each other or whatever.
The fans are the club, they are there for life whereas everyone else comes and goes (unless they too are fans as well as their other roles).
I find any player downing tools because of some power struggle unforgivable, but sadly it's accepted in a world where over-paid and pampered egos think it's all about them.

ok that is odd.

on phone right now.so can't see.

I would presume utd are paying chelsea for them. i cant believe mourinho got caught by chelsea that way.

anywat.my point was Everton want to pay a top manager the same as what utd pay a top manager fair enough.... that.might get one..

......... but only one who wants money will come. the others rotate around top.clubs who can actually win something cos.vuilding something takes too long.

hence klopps cv will never be as good as the short termist managers. je stays too long and builds

To be honest though, if I was Lovren and received death threats to my family and just the general abuse he gets from Liverpool 'fans' then I wouldn't really be that bothered about running through brick walls for the fans.

The people who send the abuse aren't representative of the fan base as a whole but its still not the best look and something that encourages players to be loyal to a club.

I agree - it goes both ways in that sense.
Giving people genuine abuse for not being good enough is unforgivable.
My point was more general though, that many players these days don't seem to factor in the fans, and don't realise that without them they'd be living a very different lifestyle.

It's not nice to see a player become a "whipping boy" when things go wrong, I saw it happen to Heighway, Cally, Whelan, but those lads were part of a successful era and can look back at their time at LFC with fondness regardless of the stick they got, Lovren on the other hand is here at an unsuccessful time and is without doubt a weak link in the team, the only way to ease the abuse is try harder and train harder or leave, but his **** ups have left him where only a lesser club that pays lesser wages would want him.
Simple answer, get your head down and try harder, the fans love a player giving 101% and appreciate it.

I can agree with that. Especially with football careers being so short you'd think they would make the most of it. Its always a bit frustrating to see players with an abundance of talent like Adebayor, Balotelli, Berbatov etc. not putting the required effort into games when the majority of males on the planet would give anything to be able to play professional football at the highest level.

I think the problem, particularly as a defender, is that trying to hard can get you caught out of position, a striker can charge around closing defenders for 90 minutes and people will applaud him for it, if a defender did that he'd be leaving huge gaps for the opposition to exploit.

I just looked up your list of managers and can't believe you've had 25 since Chris Nicholl. <yikes> We've only had 24 in our entire history although 4 of those have been in the last 7 years.

This impatience [from all clubsI ] is sickening. No wonder people are genuinely getting turned off football.

Yeah that pochettino should have stayed for 5 years :bandit:

I saw the other day that we have had more managers than anyone in the PL despite spending 7 years out of it...

Agree it's ridiculous, we never should have sacked Puel imo. Don't wanna give up on the new guy yet but he looks out of his depth to me.

I have to say that its a little harsh thus far on pelligrini. you hired him. you should be stuck with him. it only takes one thing to click into place to move a team who can dfend but can't scroe into one who can score. be it gabbiandini, tadic, redmod changing or full backs moving up more. bertrand etc... just something minor as the palyers are there. You are not leaking goals badly like...

Look at klopp. i am convinced we have been worse this year than last year due to a lack of balance between defence and attack. it couldbe last weekend he resolved it with a tweak.. we will see.

Yeah it's still early days and I haven't given up hope yet, but there doesn't seem to be any sort of plan to our play and he often looks baffled on the touchline when the opposition makes a change to take control and like he doesn't have a clue what to do.

At least last year when we struggled under Puel I could see what the idea was and what he was attempting to instill in the team, simply haven't seen that with this guy yet.

I'm not calling for him to go yet, but nothing I've seen so far makes me thing he will turn it around. Look at our points haul from the easiest run of fixtures of any team in the league so far and then you look at our next ten... we'll almost certainly be in the bottom 3 come Christmas time.
