I'm definitely in agreement about removing Lee Johnson and I'm completely surprised by that as I genuinely wanted to give him a chance. If this latest run of form was just a blip then so be it, but its gone on too long.

I trust KLD and Speakman to make the right choice rather than the choice which looks right or to save face. Sacking LJ would be a first admission from either of them that they've got something wrong.

Keep in mind that we finished last season 8th. We have had more defensive injuries than Liverpool and improved our league position by 4. Theirs has been massively poorer. Apparently because of their injuries. Ours seems to be because of Johnson. He’s earned a chance next season for me.

Clearly the tie is not over yet. If we were 2-0 up we wouldn't be counting our chickens, so neither should Lincoln. But it's clearly feeling unlikely.

Assuming we don't make it on Saturday and announce our retained list on Monday, what should it look like? In fact I've decided my retained list would look pretty identical no matter what division we are in. Anyone not good enough for championship should be deemed not good enough to get us there.

According to the chronicle the following players are out of contract in the summer:

Lee Burge, Remi Matthews, Anthony Patterson, Luke O’Nien, Conor McLaughlin, Brandon Taylor, Denver Hume, Callum McFadzean, Max Power, Josh Scowen, Grant Leadbitter, Chris Maguire, Aiden McGeady, Charlie Wyke, Benji Kimpioka.

I think we should take a "start again" approach and say goodbye to a lot of players that might surprise some outsiders. For me our retained list should look as such:

Out of contract and released
Matthews
McLaughlin
Taylor
McFadzean
Power
Scowen
Leadbitter (should be offered a coaching role)
Maguire
McGeady

New Deals Offered To
Burge (just about)
Patterson
O'Nien
Hume
Wyke (1 year only and not breaking bank - if he leaves so be it)

Retained Under Contract but Available for Transfer
Flanagan
Wright
Dobson
O'Brien
Grigg

Retained Under Contract but not available (unless good offer)
Willis
Gooch
Embleton
Xhemajli
Diamond
Winchester
Hawkes
Neil
Stewart
+ anyone who signs deals

I'd try to sign Sanderson (obviously) but have decided I'd pass on Jones unless he was dirt cheep.

That would mean for me we'd need to sign, at a minimum, first team players in the following positions:

Goalkeeper (x2 if Burge leaves)

Right Back x 2
Center Back x 2
Left Back x 1

Center Mid x 3 (or 4 if O'Nien leaves)

Winger / Attacking Mid x 3

Striker (x2 if Wyke leaves)

That's a busy fecking summer :D
From your list I'd only offer Onein a new contract. The rest of the out of contract players have proven to be injury prone, unreliable, too old or a mixture of them all. Oh and we only need one new keeper, as proven this year if we get an injury we can always loan one from Stoke!!!

If KLD & Speakman keep him then they must believe in him and I, as a supporter, can only hope & put my trust in them and their judgment. The manager, whoever that might be going forward, has a mountain to climb to get this club properly back on the rails.
We cannot have another season after the next (if that sadly becomes a reality) in league One. It t just will not be financially sustainable to have a 48,000 seater stadium with 15 to 20,000 home fans and possibly 500 away fans turning up to watch a game.
Time is against us in some ways, the world is changing and the game is changing. The BBC have elevated the women’s super league ahead of league one, our profile is dropping and soon they may ban heading the ball. The fact is, if we linger in this league, the passion will sadly begin to fade, perhaps ending with Grandads rambling to their disinterested grandchildren about the days (tears now) of the Roker roar.
The owner and any manager, given the privilege of managing SAFC, has to understand that we are extremely passionate supporters that crave attacking and entertaining football. Provide that and you’ll fill the stadium with a roar that will undoubtedly resonate throughout the City.
In the great Led Zeppelin lyrics ‘I ramble on’, God help my grandkids!

Stewert last 2 starts he's offered more the wyke, was surprised he got took off

jones should of come on instead of dimonde

should of put an extra body in the middle after the first ten minutes of the second half

Seen a few posts saying would only keep Hume. Seriously he is **** I get hes a local lad but that can only give him so many chances.

I'd keep Mcgeady Onien and possibly Scowen. Mcgeady will probably **** us off anyway so wouldnt honestly be arsed if they all ****ed off.

Wyke probably going to boro ain't a bad thing I know hes scored 30 goals this year but his finishing is awful. The **** cost us 3 goals today if you include him losing there centre forward from the corner.

I would only offer O'Nien, Hume McGeady and Wyke contracts. I accept Wyke will probably go. It will be a struggle to keep O'Nien and Hume too. All the others can go, including Jones and Vokins.

I like McLaughlin but his injuries put me off.

I would also try to move on the likes of Wright and O'Brien and Flannagan.

We need a complete overhaul IMO. It means the start of the season could be up and down as they get used to each other but it is necessary. There will be 4 u23s promoted to first team squad. I reckon we will sign 10-12 players which is madness, but we are still dealing with the mismanagement of the last lot.

Don't disagree with a lot of that but probably wouldn't offer a contract to Wyke, daft as it may sound. I think we need to share the goals around so that the opposition can't double up

I see a few happy to see Wyke go and he probably will to be fair. But to me a 30 goal a season striker is gold dust. For years fans have been crying out for a 20 goal a seasom man, now we have one and he isnt popular. I know he really only scores the one touch finish but he is bloody good at it. His movement when the winger is about to cross is excellent. People say McGeady makes him, which is only partly true. McGeady is great at hitting the danger area but it always require Wyke to get his movement right then finish. Yes he ballsed up the first chance today and lost his man for their goal (but you have to question LJ for having a forward marking a forward as Alex Neil said). Sure he will go though and then it is a chance to go down a different route

Hume and onien. The rest can quite literally **** off.

personally think onien will go but the rest I couldn’t give a flying **** about.

out recruitment team are gonna have their work cut out. Need a keeper, RB LB an entire midfield and at least 1 striker.

stewart offers more than Wyke. Can get across his man and has a much better touch and control.

Too early to say that for me, not seen enough of him to be certain. He is definitely quicker and will stretch teams more. Thought for 45 mins today the pair of them together were outstanding and if that was a glimpse of next season I wouldnt be at all worried.

i know it’s all opinions mate but I completely disagree about Wyke. He’s been here long enough to show that he offers no aerial threat, isn’t quick, Is too static around the box. He was ahead of Stewart when Stewart scored yesterday yet Stewart made up 5 yards on him to get to the front post first. If we get a chance to shift him we should, along with most of the others who are bog standard league one players.

I agree with this as I believe KLD will do what’s needed and I can’t see him hanging on to that carthorse 31 goals or not.
