Result aside, I really enjoyed that performance...

Sordell and Green need to stop trying to be heroes and need to use their team mates... About three times in the second half Sordell picked up the ball in the middle of their half and just ran with it when there were options available (Before shooting into a blocking man), Green was the same, he had a brilliant chance to put Wilson through on the overlap but decided to go into a cul-de-sac... Play for the shirt not the name on the back of it

Last comment about Sordell but it sadly pleases me that its not just the fans fed up with him... Wilson put a lovely cross into him at one point 2nd Half and the lazy bugger didnt even bother jumping (ironically it was the defender behind him who jumped and cleared it), a few minutes later it happened again and you saw Wilson absolutely scream at Sordell in frustration!!

In regards to Thuram cant say much for the last two games he's played but the first Goal was one of those crosses put into the sort of area where the 'keeper cannot come for it, if they do then they may as well commit suicide its more sensible... the second goal again couldnt do much about

He made just the one commanding punch from a corner which cleared the ball quicker than our defenders do sometimes from such play and made some good catches, he miss-kicked it twice but those who are bemoaning that cant have been around during the times of Kiely because his distribution in the first half was excellent (quickly got rid of the ball to start new attacks as well) - He also made an excellent save shortly after it went 1-0 to stop Burke one-on-one!!

Evina needs to be loaned out to League One... He needs some confidence and its gonna start costing us... It was him sleeping that allowed Burke in for the one-on-one

Poyet is gonna be come a class player and like Cousins now I reckon he'll become a regular feature in the Midfield... Some might be surprised and disagree with me about saying this but I prefer him to Stephens, under him there would be too many sideways / backwards passing whereas Poyet will always drop deep to the Defenders pick up the ball and start an attack.

Ajdarevic... This guy really surprised me and I'd like him to stay on a perm basis, he must have been given a free-role as countless times I saw him drift over to the right by Cousins (which is a slight concern seeing he left Evina on his own a bit) yet the countless times he kept the ball in play was amazing, that with his flick-ons actually going to team mates I reckon we've found a more creative player in Midfield than Kermorgant when playing up front (Bit of a spongefoot when shooting though).

Reza... I liked the runs he kept trying to make, dropped deep to get the ball... reckon if we have him and Church up front they could leave defences paranoid with the amount of running both players do, fraid Powell needs to take him aside and get him to cut out the diving, if he did dive then well done the Referee (It was the only good thing he did all game)

All in all I reckon you've got to look at this result long term... You can see that this team is gonna be passing it around more rather than lumping it forwards and not making excuses for the defeat yet it was difficult trying to do that with the pitch how it was as the players didnt know how hard to pass the ball (when you also combine the fact when the ball would bounce it would be like a rugby ball as there were a few times when Charlton players would position themselves to bring the back under control after the bounce and it would end up elsewhere) etc... so hopefully we can really improve the pitch over the summer

Think overall it was a harsh defeat... We certainly created opportunities but (1) the ball just wouldnt sit for us or (2) We'd have Randolph in the way and I always knew coming into this match that we'd have to come up with something special to beat him

Substitutes... I know a lot of people have criticised Powell's timing and choice of sub today yet felt he got it spot on... Church was brought on to make a nuisance of himself and like I said above... make the defenders paranoid whilst Green was put on to try and add some width (Just I doubt his instructions were definitely not to lose the ball in the middle of the pitch and so concede)...

Had we been 1-0 up I reckon Piotr would have been put on to try and hold the ball up but Church is definitely the man to use when chasing the game... Would like to see Church and Reza start against Sheffield Wednesday with Piotr given a longer cameo (Depending on the score)

Those fans affecting insouciance about our imminent relegation to Div 3 should also bear in mind another negative. Poyet, Cousins and possibly Solly will be gone. Poyet definitely. That wonderful Academy we have invested so much time and effort in will be producing class players that go straight to other teams, because in Div 3 we won't be able to afford to retain them.

Will they instantly be gone... In the recent Interview RD acknowledged that the likes of Cousins and Poyet are the future for us so wont want to sell just yet as there could be even greater profit in a few years time... I guess at the end of the day it depends how much clubs offer for them both

i.e. £1m they could be told to go somewhere whereas £5m the club might take the offer

Richard Murray has already said that Carl Jenkinson went for less than the club would have liked (Cant see that one as it would have just gone to tribunal had Arsenal not liked the amount we were demanding) yet we had to sell him and Jonjo Shelvey because of our financial situation... RD is worth over £400m so the need isnt there so much.

Wouldnt be surprised if they did get sold if we went down but equally dont be surprised if they both stay

Pleased to say i largely concur with Franco and disgree with the booing vol au vent. I am not certain that the views on our new goalie isnt a little bit of mass hysteria at the departure of Alnwick either. The guy behind me yesterday noted that "he is always punching the ball" i counted -he punched it once which was onve less than Randolph at the other end. The reality is that he has yet to get to grips with defence but he will do so.

Poor players yesterday were Sodall who looked like he deliberately body checked Reza when coming back from an offside position, Evina who will lose his place to Wiggins and Green who was reponsible for their second goal.
We have to recognise that Jacko is now time limited on the pitch but he played well at the start. Best charlton player yesterday was probably Astrid who only a short while ago on debut was described as rubbish. This team has had only a week to gel. From what i saw yesterday I will be looking forward to themgetting a result at Hilsborough on the basis that CP will need to give them and Peter the Pole time on the pitch to work as a unit.

Vol- I have to disagree with you and Typical but it would surprise you no end if I didnt. What amazes me is that despite hating CP and the current Charlton set up so much you still drag yourself down to the Valley. have you been reading to much of the works of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. Surely the logical thing for you to do would be to vote with your feet and stay away.

With Thuram you have to ask how good is his English? Goalkeepers need the best communication on the whole pitch, and if he cant really communicate with Morro or Wood we are in real trouble until Hamer gets back

There were only 50 fans left in the North Upper. The diabolical atmosphere is as a result of people not vocally supporting the team, booing is not vocally supporting the team, so you contributed to that.
I don't wear a tuxedo I wear a dinner jacket, and chucking the captain over board wouldn't have saved the Titanic.

Ridiculous comment. Please show me anywhere that I have posted that I hate CP, and I will give you £100. Come on....
What you also have to realise old son is that the days when fans like me - I have followed the club home and away for over 35 years - "stay away" as you put it, we really are in the ****ter. Another dumb comment.

It doesn't work like that, does it? It is supposed to be an entertainment industry. We part with our hard earned, and Powell's players entertain us. Looks like you are reverting to that old- Pro CP canard of "it's the fans fault".

That didn't stop him selling our talismanic striker to a relegation rival, A4L.

Roland will happily sell Poyet and Cousins if he feels he has adequate (and free) replacements within his cabal of clubs.

Having said all that, I am no longer that bothered about losing Kermit. We played some lovely football on the deck yesterday, so we should be looking to pick up points once the team properly gels.

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of points come away from home, though.

When do you think the tipping point will come for you ? League Two? The Conference? Hackney Marshes on a Sunday? Just as long as you can unveil your Guardian on the way to work on Monday and feel good about supporting football's version of Mother Theresa/Mandela eh ?

Accepting that you clearly glory in the five tunnel jumps we have seen so far this season (assuming that you were there ....), do you think we will get to see a 6th this season? I am not that confident.

Well, the captain did plough on full-steam-ahead into iceberg infested waters, so chucking him overboard earlier on in the voyage may have saved the ship after all.

    Just saying... :emoticon-0138-think

    Vol,

Could you please cut and paste the post where SVC, SiG or anyone else has said they regard Chris Powell as football's equivalent of Mother Theresa/Mandela.

It works both ways, you know.

    lol, this is hilarious.

am a season ticket holder so go all home games. made about 5 away games this year (had a child).

exactly when did the tipping point come for you?? when did you drop you're copy of the viz, or spank magazine and start angrily typing away? at which point did you earn black belt keyboard warrior? when exactly did you start to idolize someone for opening up their own forum and then spouting sh1t? And why is it you're so short sighted that you can't realise that the manager has been dealt THE roughest hand of anyone this year. you know what he's had to deal with - no one else would do much better.

Does it? I think most people with an IQ above about ten will be able to tell the difference between comparing a football manager to a 100 year old dead Albanian nun....and being wrongly accused of "hating" someone.

I know that perching on that pile of Guardian back numbers makes you look down on people, but I am merely asking Scratching for the evidence of me hating CP.

I withdraw my comment about Powell and the 100 year old dead Albanian nun.

    Scratching ......

I have had kids myself, and sometimes tiredness can affect your judgement. I will put your bizarre comments down to a need for Forty Winks.Have an early night. <whistle> You cannot be a "keyboard warrior" old son when you have seen your team in over 1,000 live games home and away. That makes you a credible judge, whether you agree with the opinion, or not.

You said we compared CP to Mother Theresa/Mandela. We haven't. Just like you've never said you hate CP. There's no difference. Anyway, thank you for withdrawing the comment

No problem <whistle> Is that the royal "we" by the way?

Most people will understand what Scratching was implying in his post. He was smearing typical and myself. I await the apology/withdrawal & then we can move on.
