I have the odd drink, but as I had a drink on my birthday and another on Saturday, I now have to take five weeks off so I can have a drink at my daughters wedding.

It's a ****ing pain.
That's crap, but at least you're healthy otherwise and can be there to give her away
Don't let the day flash by. Mine got married last year and it was an amazing day. Much more emotional than I expected
Enjoy it

I'm always impressed with 1884 when I go....nice setting as well

I had a great dinner there a year or so back, nicely decked out and food was top notch, if you look around you may get a deal, I got a deal at around £55-60 if I remember right, included 2 glasses of champers, starters, mains and pud for 2 people

Don't be so parochial Chazz.

I'm currently holed up in a place called The Angel, just outside Bristol.

Menu is fairly cosmopolitan. Includes Moules et frite, hilariously named burgers and they have an eminently quaffable local micro-brewary ale.

Five hours in the car there. Five hours back.

She'll melt like an Arctic Roll in the Sahara.
Just one chip? Seems a bit measly. Are you sure it's not a baked potato? Did you get the full bucket of mussels?

Not living in Hull it is interesting reading about the various restaurants and the quality of food. Reminded me that many years ago I went to a restaurant in Bali, either Swastika 1 or 2. Ordered frog legs. The plate was served but the legs were attached to bodies piled on the plate like a pyramid. Little eyes gazing at you. Every one on the table gagged. So can't vouch as whether they were good or not as they were quickly removed..

Well
In Hull I'd still say 1884. Nice setting, and good food (and beer actually) I'd recommend table 22, which is set up above the main floor at one end in the window (fine selection of Armagnac too)
I've heard good things about Bait on Prinny Ave, but haven't actually been
East Riding rooms in Hessle is quite nice for something more informal
If you want to go further out I really like the restaurant (as opposed to the bar) at the Wellington at Lund, nice steak.
Steak Wellington followed by slugs of Napolean brandy...romantic sunset...fine...
