With all due respect, I'm not sure what everyone expected him to say!!! Although its not what most ITFC fans want to hear what did you expect him to say?? "I take note of the issues you have raised therefore I am going to sack Jewell and then resign immediately!!"

Mr Clegg clearly is the most deluded, idiotic person ever to have any type of relationship with Ipswich Town. It pains me to say it, but I think Keane would be doing a far better job than PJ.

Now you can critisize PJ all you want, but to say Keane would be doing a better job, I think you have a short term memory.
 
first up well done to all who have mailed that twat clegg and let our feelings be known. it is only fans like you that give us something left to be proud of in our club.
does anyone else remember the clive woodward debacle at southampton? it is the same thing with clegg. football is a unique business due to the loyalty and passion of it's supporters. you cannot bring in people from outside the game to run things as they simply do not understand the nature of the game.
i thought pj would do a good job for us but it simply is not working out. changing manager now is a gamble not changing will end in relegation. anyone who thinks different needs to take a long hard look at the facts.
ps if you think keane would have been doing better you are delusional.
 
I would have been left seething on receiving that reply! A total failure to answer any of the points raised excluding a one liner about a striker!

While we have our disputes on these boards I think you will get a large chunk of sympathy and support from sensible City fans over this.
 
Not delusional by any means! But I think Keane would have definitely made some changes to a squad which is below championship standards. And he definitely would not have brought Ellington in!

Wasnt it Keanes transfer brilliance that partially got us into this problem in the first place. He may not have signed Ellington but he did decide to bin Stead and bring in David Healy FFS. He started the idea of playing Edwards at RB, fell out with Walters, binned Trotter and Garvan and D wright.

Thank you for your response, I was actually surprised you replied, But unfortunately i was not surprised by the normal spin PR rubbish that normally comes out of Portman Road these days.
I noticed that a couple of weeks ago your were surprised by an EADT poll that you received 39% of the vote of who the Ipswich fans held responsible for our current plight, you obviously do not interact with the fans as you will see that this percentage is now much higher. You only need to go on the fan forums www.not606.com (which i am a moderator on the Ipswich Board) and TWTD fans forums and look at the amount of ill feeling there is towards the board at a once proud club. I don't know if you know this, but once the board have lost the fans trust than changes have to be made for the clubs sake of a chance to survive our current predictament.

Furthermore to this, and this probably a first in the history of Ipswich and Norwich football clubs, we have had messages of support from Norwich fans because they can see that our club is being destroyed from the inside. Please see a message of support from one such Norwich fan.

guru, quality! absolutely no chance he will join the forum!! and nor should he - he'd get more grief than colu_mike did <laugh>

but remember, although we norwich fans sympathise with your situation, especially as we were in it ourselves a little over two years ago and know how frustrating it can be, we are still going to have a little chuckle now and then that you've got yourselves in such a mess!

i think we're entitled too <ok>
 
Ipswich Midlander I can't believe what your saying, Keane was the manager who seemed to make the impossible possible, he had a talented squad when he took over and spent £12 million and in little under 2 years made us struggle to cling on to championship survival and left us in a complete mess which PJ has struggled to fix. PJ's transfer record may not have been great but he hasn't got rid of good players and spent millions getting in worse replacements. When PJ took over we only had 1 who was of high championship standard and Keane decided he didn't want to offer him a contract. Keane decided to medal with the team when he didn't need to, PJ hasn't had a choice. Keane ruined this club, Jewell hasn't helped but he hasn't ruined it, it was already in ruin!!

I like the analogy which many have used about Rome wasn't built in a day. Rome was being built slowly at Ipswich before Keane took over it had some teething problems but had good strong foundations, Keane then ripped those foundations out. Jewell came in with no foundations in place and tried to build Rome in a day unfortunately without the foundations in the place!!

Good response Guru. But I'm pretty sure if you recieve a reply it will be much the same as the previous one. The only way I think he will get forced out is if there is a mass protest(something which I hate to see). Again I reiterate that only a few years ago similar mumerings were happening with Sheepshanks seen to be the biggest problem at the club, just remember the grass isn't always greener!!!
 
ptc, i think you are having difficulty assessing the current situation your club finds itself in and thats not me having a dig - its easier from the outside to see things clearly. although i would agree with you that keane ruined your club and dragged it down, something which could take years to recover from, jewell has made it ten times worse, at least thats what it looks like from the outside. your club will have to start from scratch again in the summer because of his signings. now if that was all factored in to the master plan that you will have to have a year or two of mass exoduses or even getting worse before it gets better then fine, but when you look at who jewell signed in the summer, it seems clear to me that he had targeted a promotion bid this year. big names, big money deals... you don't do that unless you want a quick fix. you're in big, big trouble and i reckon the money has dried up <ok>
 
Superman your always someone who I think can assess the situation better than most Ipswich supporters. And usually agree wholeheartedly with what you say and still do to a certain extent. You're right PJ tried to build a successful team too quickly, the problem is over the summer we needed so many players in and there are only so many players that we could get in a) who would be good enough and b) who would be value for money, getting 10-15 players in takes alot of scouting and understanding of what players are out there, at the time I don't think PJ had enough awareness of what was out there to get the sheer number of players we needed and be sure that spending probably what would be good money and longer contracts on these players(like Martin and Priskin), so perhaps he thought for the time being, I'll get proven players in with the experience, whilst I can then properly assess what areas need strengthening and can be more sure about players that we need. I think PJ can certainly spot a good player, i.e Drury and Cresswell, whilst many of the others like some have said are more proven quality(but not proving it this year), none of those players who are performing badly for us this season were playing badly last season. I do not neccessarily like the transfer policy which PJ took over the summer but I can see why he did it, clearly it has drastically not worked but with hopefully a couple of decent CB's and perhaps Andrews back in the side, to show a bit of leadership, I hope and pray we will be ok. A new manager would have the same problems and less of an idea as to what players are out there.

I don't think the money has dried up either, I just think ME is trying to be a bit more prudent rather than just chucking cash at the team like the 2 previous managers had and failed at.

I respect your views Superman and in the whole agree with them but I feel you like alot of Norwich fans just bang on about your history all the time (sorry couldn't resist getting that in there) and are re-telling what happened rather than completely judging our situation, just because certain things went wrong at your club doesn't mean that it will happen to us and similarly if it does if we follow your example it doesn't neccessarily mean it will happen in the same spectacular fashion which you have improved, after all there aren't many Paul Lamberts around!!
 
Superman, Jewell has admitted that the quick fix attitude he had last summer was completely wrong and he now plans to build the foundations needed.

Although, I haven't seen much evidence of that so far two weeks into the Jan transfer window, all we've done is brought in another loan and nearly brought in a rivals reject who reportedly has a bad attitude.

It would be easier to recruit next summer but do we give him that long?

Superman, I welcome your outside view but I cant see that jewell has made us worse then Keane did but just hasnt made us better either. I agree it is laughable us debating which manager is worse. Like debating whether you would prefered to be raped or murdered!
Svendust - that is the big question that I am pondering myself
 
From the sounds of the st ledger deal falling through, players are now being put off from coming because of the situation. Something has to give soon or we are in the deep brown stuff to stay.

Tractorbhoy, my feelings are on Clegg, if by what he says that he didn't realise how the fans felt then this is the perfect platform. If he comes back to me that he wants to take part i will set him up with an account and i will put a sticky thread so any questions can be put to him and he can answer in his own time. It might cause a headache moderating because of the feelings at the moment, but i feel if he really does want to hear from the fans he will say yes, if he doesn't then that will tell everybody all you need to know on how detacted our club has become.
