Verdict on O’Brian as he was robbed of the nailed on penalty that wasnt even looked at and one long range pass from pass from inside his own half to just outside the opposition area wide on the left was sublime. Dogz were garbage with the final ball Forest edged it but Dogz was robbed on pens
O'Brien reminds me a bit of Forshaw. Technically decent but no pace. It was the young lad Jon Russell who came off the bench that caught my eye. He was nice and calm sitting just in front of the back 4 and controlled the midfield as soon as he went on. Had good footwork, some lovely slide passes, demanded to ball, organised those around him and dictated the pace of the game. He's 6ft 4" and only 21. Granted I've only seen him for half an hour today but he looked very confident at that level. I'll keep an eye on him.
Will Leeds take the opportunity to bring in someone on loan. Last season was the first time we haven't for years. Prefer to have a try before you buy player, or a top top player who cant get into a top CL side until next year
In his position, he doesn't need pace, but fitness/endurance - box-to-box midfielders are more like marathon runners than sprinters. I hope we sign O'Brien now Huddersfield failed to gain promotion. Not sure than players who're 6'4" will make good midfielders - generally the better midfield players are well under 6'.
Had we been relegated I’d have been laughing my bollocks off but Moss should have retired five years ago at least
At the risk of agreeing with you verbatim twice in a day I had the exact same thoughts in both o’brien (who I felt was largely marked out of the game) and Russel… I had to google the lanky cocky guy who was directing play and pinging passes around. like you say it was only a half and due to his size he was kind of giraffe-like slow motion but looked handy!
Totally agree that O'Brien is a mirror image of Forshaw in his style of play and they even move/demand the ball in a similar fashion as well. Personally I can take or leave him and as posted on the transfer thread he's only worth a punt at the right price.
