His electric/gas/oil bill will be more of an issue if he’s losing 500 litres of hot water every day!!!

My water bill’s only about £1/cubic meter and usage is about 60cu m/quarter. Are you sure you’ve got a hot water leak- perhaps you’ve just got “stealth” under-floor heating and no damp course
Can't remember the exact details but a mate of mine bought a house years ago and it was damp,
Ended up a brick shell, no plaster and the roof tiles visible from the ground floor
The previous owner had run a waste pipe into what he thought was another but was a vent for the suspended ground floor.

My neighbour having bought the bungalow had extensive work done including extension and under floor heating.
Not long after the heating leaked and they had to dig his kitchen/extension floor up of expensive tiles to find it
