Cheers for that mate.
Easily my favorite manager thus far. I remember the day he was appointed. Gutted just wouldn't cover it but how wrong I was.
All went a bit sour in the end but they were great days to be a Sunderland fan.

All together now.......

Cheer up Peter Reid, oh what can it mean..........................:smiley-finger007:

I remember being quite impressed with Reids appointment.

Remember Russells wind assisted winner against Sheffield United, had it not been blowing a gale someone in the Fulwell would have been nursing a broken sneck, but the keepers touch and the wind combined and it dropped in?

I remember thinking then, we're gonna do alright under this fella.

A good, football man, and a ****ing hoot as well.

Best days to be a sunderland fan imo, the SOL atmosphere in them days was electrick no matter who we played....shame we cant say the same theses days lads

Was sacked after losing 3-1 at Arsenal iirc with 2 home games against West Ham and Charlton next up. Crazy decision by Bob Murray followed by an even crazier decision appointing Howard Wilkinson which ultimately cost us our Premier League status. Reid should have been given more time imo as he's been our most successful manager in recent years(a league cup semi final narrow defeat to martin o'neill's leicester and 2 top 7 finishes was easily forgotton after 1 bad season and a bad start to another)

maybe some of us so called sunderland fans need to realise how good we have it these days, we have never and a board back the manager so well in the transfer market, we have never had so many proven international players in our ranks...yet some fickle fans call for the managers head if we lose one game....we are/were comfortably 7th with a decent run in coming up, imo we are kicking along nicely. Haway the lads!

Bit off topic but i felt a rant a-brewing :D
