Nah, it's actually the the number excuses Liverpool fans made up in order to save the failing reputation of Dalglish. Failed in the end.
please log in to view this image FAIL He actually won a trophy in his season and a half back in the managers seat. But 1092 is actually almost exactly half the amount of days since Arsenal last won a trophy.
He was also responsible for your worst finish in 18 years and a points tally of 52 your lowest since 1953/54. Not to mention the fewest wins in a top flight season since 1953 or something. All that after, the £100 odd million invested in the team.
. I hoped to god they'd give him another year....still,with Fat Sam looking like the only one who will take it looks like we're in for more laughs next season....
He never got us relegated, three of his '£100 odd million' investments are now in the England Euro squad and have all got more medals than any Arsenal player in the last 7 years. And 1092 is still almost half of the amount of days since Arsenal's last trophy win.
If your gonna mention his incoming transfer total you should deduct it from the outgoing transfer total, net spend is the true total. Wenger took over a title winning squad,Dalglish had to start from scratch.....big difference there then.
Wrong. Gervinho won the double for Lille the season before he joined us. Arshavin won the Russian league and is back with us, Chamakh won the league in France. Since, when did getting in the England squad become an achievement? Even, then Stuart '0 goals and 0 assist' Downing getting in it was a complete joke. Liverpool - Mid-table rubbish. Confirmed fact.
Ah hey,why do you Gooners put so much importance on a pre-season trophy,on bbc606 one of your lads was even calling for a European place for the winners.
Downing,Carroll and Henderson all won a domestic medal two months ago,no Arsenal player has won a domestic medal since 2005,although you did have hard luck against Birmingham.
Well that's silly of him. We can get a European place by getting enough points in the league. It's Liverpool that needs a cup competitions to get their entry.
The Carling Cup's still a trophy and I wouldn't turn my nose up at it. I doubt that anyone would claim that Dalglish made enough progress in the last 12 months to justify the expenditure at Liverpool, though. I thought that sacking Comolli was enough and that the manager should've been given another season. Going through managers like this isn't good for the club. Anyone that comes in knows that he has to do a very good job in the short term or he's out. That doesn't lead to long term thinking, in my opinion.
i disagree...because you boys usually win the Emirates cup. therefore it is definately a pre season tournament as opposed to a real trophy
Money has brought trophies for Chelsea, Ammaar. They may have changed managers a lot and still won trophies, but they've kept the spine of the team intact throughout, which has lead to other problems. They've also spent massive amounts of money and splashed out enormous wages too, so managers will still join anyway, as they know they can get big payouts and win things.
Hang on a minute, are Scousers now saying Woys decisions are brilliant!? ...poor argument, as is struggling to beat Cardiff to get your pot. Compare this to Chelsea's penalty shoot out final win, and see how far behind you really are.
Newcastle have done very well and so has Pardew, in my opinion. Their squad's got virtually no depth in a number of positions. If you want to check how expenditure corresponds to success, then compare wage bills with league positions. They tend to be very, very similar. There's bound to be some exceptions, but even in the Bundesliga, Munich have won something like 10 out of the last 15 titles. Having good coaches and players is obviously extremely important, but keeping them becomes impossible unless you can afford to pay competitive wages.
Ammaar your signature just proves that Wenger has been at Arsenal for a very long time...that is all. we knew this anyway.
It will be a good thing for us. Harry has taken us as far as we can go. With 'Pool, to be fair, he can only take them forwards. Plus, if he leaves it will be because Levy is prepared to let him go. At the end of the day, Levy is as big a Spurs fan as any of us, and he will have been stung by Harry's indiscretions over the "cry Harry for England" bollocks. If the majority of us fans lost a bit of love for Harry over the way he conducted himself and allowed the business end of our season to slip, you can bet your bottom dollar that Levy will feel exactly the same.
Redknapp leaving might not be such a good thing now. Remy has said he still wants to join, but only if Redknapp stays. How many other players will feel the same way?
Ade has bounced around clubs and now states he has never been happier then with us - I am pretty sure this is mainly down to Redknapp and his management style. VDV has said the same and I am sure plenty more in the squad would back it up. I want us to tie him down with the new contract, move on from all the England crap and most of all get these damn players in
