I'm going to look at this from a more general perspective mixed with my own, then WJ can wade in with his perspective....
....
Through all the times Austin has been inconsistent, which he has, fans were calling for him to be drooped, to be sold and he's a disgrace to the Leeds shirt and more.
He plays a couple of good games, only 2 mind because he didn't perform against udders, and the fans are shouting for him to stay; if we go back to BM, they did the same with him, and, many are doing the same with Morison now. Not only is it unbelievable but typical of many Leeds fans, but it is, by any other definition, hypocrisy.
I suspect a deal had been agreed, but at last minute Redders has had a word with Austin and probably made promises and commitments to Austin that he cannot keep, or may prove detrimental to team; I could be wrong in that regard, but I'd bet I'm not far off the bullseye.
So here's the scenario, Austin may have 1 more good game and then revert back to the Austin we all know, inconsistency, bad games, wild shots and bad passes, what then for Austin and Redfearn?
Redfearn, by saying what he has said to media has committed himself to Austin, what will Redders do if, and I'll say when Austin reverts back to his old self?
Redfearn has jumped in deep end with both feet, dug his own grave and made his hangman's noose.
Will he keep playing a badly performing Austin because of his commitments made, which would not only be detrimental to team, but have the media all over it as well, or, does he go back on his word and commitments and drop Austin, in which case, not only will Redfearn make himself look like a bloody idiot in front of team, club and fans, but will also have the press all over it too; in other words, if Austin doesn't continually perform then Redfearn cannot win either way, so it's a continual case of Redfearn picking, playing and bloody well hoping, like he is doing imo with team at moment.
Some say Cellino shoots from the hip, sometimes without thinking, but Redfearn, over last couple of months has dropped himself in it many times by saying the things he does, and from what I've read, fans are starting to pick up on it now too, same as Redfearn's favourites.
By the way, he's saying the same about Sharp.
Thoughts anyone.
