I'm going to look at this from a more general perspective mixed with my own, then WJ can wade in with his perspective....:emoticon-0105-wink:....:emoticon-0148-yes:

Through all the times Austin has been inconsistent, which he has, fans were calling for him to be drooped, to be sold and he's a disgrace to the Leeds shirt and more.

He plays a couple of good games, only 2 mind because he didn't perform against udders, and the fans are shouting for him to stay; if we go back to BM, they did the same with him, and, many are doing the same with Morison now. Not only is it unbelievable but typical of many Leeds fans, but it is, by any other definition, hypocrisy.

I suspect a deal had been agreed, but at last minute Redders has had a word with Austin and probably made promises and commitments to Austin that he cannot keep, or may prove detrimental to team; I could be wrong in that regard, but I'd bet I'm not far off the bullseye.

So here's the scenario, Austin may have 1 more good game and then revert back to the Austin we all know, inconsistency, bad games, wild shots and bad passes, what then for Austin and Redfearn?

Redfearn, by saying what he has said to media has committed himself to Austin, what will Redders do if, and I'll say when Austin reverts back to his old self?

Redfearn has jumped in deep end with both feet, dug his own grave and made his hangman's noose.

Will he keep playing a badly performing Austin because of his commitments made, which would not only be detrimental to team, but have the media all over it as well, or, does he go back on his word and commitments and drop Austin, in which case, not only will Redfearn make himself look like a bloody idiot in front of team, club and fans, but will also have the press all over it too; in other words, if Austin doesn't continually perform then Redfearn cannot win either way, so it's a continual case of Redfearn picking, playing and bloody well hoping, like he is doing imo with team at moment.

Some say Cellino shoots from the hip, sometimes without thinking, but Redfearn, over last couple of months has dropped himself in it many times by saying the things he does, and from what I've read, fans are starting to pick up on it now too, same as Redfearn's favourites.

By the way, he's saying the same about Sharp.

Thoughts anyone.

Or he might of just said, keep playing well and we will be OK. Or, you are not going anywhere. Why do people have to build every mole hill into a mountain.

Wasn't a molehill into a mountain Xbpod,

Was looking at it from a could/might happen scenario considering all the hoopla that went on. Let's not forget what Redders has said in media about Austin.

Austin stayed because Tonge left last minute ... if Tonge had stayed, Austin would have been allowed to go, that is what I've heard ... Austin will be released end of season UNLESS he plays out of his skin and earns a new deal ... so now we have a player giving his all to prove he is worth signing ... good business all round, and nothing to do with Redders as he has ABSOLUTELY NO SAY over transfers, this was handled by Umbers and Cellino

To be honest Billy, that does not surprise me considering the articles that said the deal had been confirmed, info was getting out somewhere and the media quickly jumped on it.

Personally, I think Austin may well be gone come seasons end, unless, like you said, he becomes one with Billy Bremners ghost....:emoticon-0116-evilg

Like everyone else, I have no idea what's gone on behind the scenes. TBH, I think that Redders has grown up a bit over the last couple of months in that he's finally started dropping his kids & insistence on playing the narrow diamond. Then again, he still displays enormous naivety when talking to the press, so he's still got a long way to go. He could have made promises to Austin, but I suspect he may be improving in this area by choosing his words a little more carefully. Then again ...

Redders, Austin & Sharp have all been dreadfully inconsistent so far his season, and there's every chance that this may continue, but I'm prepared to be surprised (but not holding my breath :D). All aboard for the roller coaster ride!

I wouldn't be suprised if the deal was struck then Redders made the comment about wanting to keep Austin and Twitter exploded and Umbers **** himself and pulled out keeping Austin here and using Austin can go if he likes as an excuse. The story was in the press for too long for it to be rubbish information.

Tongue and Norris were going to go anyway. We were going to use Tongue as wight for the Woolsford deal but that went tits up and we tried to palm him off to Bradford but Millwall came in. Norris was gone from the off they just needed to negotiate terms.

Agreed with Billy, Austin is gone in the summer and they'll be somebody to replace him. I am expecting Benedicic and Del Fabro to sign contracts with us in the summer as they are young and we can still mould them.

Redders is not the man for the job and I can imagine what Pearce said bout Redders not knowing his best team is true.

Were just over half way through the season and it's been a massive joke.

Whoah there big guy............
That first sentence isn't something to be passed over lightly.
There is one who walks among us that knows everything that goes on behind the scenes, is your memory failing?

If you don't mind been told how to drive, which way to go, what would be a better car, what colour to buy it in, how much fuel to put in to best take account of the oil price and where to park, perhaps just once you could give him a lift and get the inside story?
Just a thought.

WJ i feel that they have come to an arrangement with Austin giving him a new contract which will be announced soon
They will then be able to sell him on and not lose money .Theydid this if you recall with Matt Smith once he signed he was sold .You see you dont have to give me a lift to find this out

Good news all round then, at least you won't have bored the fecker into a deep sleep.
By the way the substantive point you made was a very obvious possibility, but I would be suprised if Austin gets a new deal even if it is just to give him a sell on value..

Well we must bow to your superior judgement but i will ask people to note what you have stated. If it was such an obvious possibility why has no one mentioned it ? Perhaps you did but I hadnt noticed it or perhaps I have copied it from the Sun or something!

As you pointed out we did it with Matty.<doh>
So it would be possible, but can't see it, Rudy will not be here in August and won't be offered a new contract to get a fee.

I heard you the first time you posted it.

I just think Sky Sports picked up some duff information and got it wrong <ok>
I think Sky jumped to a conclusion, player out of contract in the summer, been in and out the team, heard a £500k offer was made and 'assumed' he was going to sign for them. I heard the offer was accepted but it was down to the player, Redfearn told him he wanted him to stay and he did.

To be honest it should have been an easy decision for Austin. Join Wigan sign a 3 year contract and run the risk of first division football next season or remain with us, see what happens and then have a choice of where to go as a free agent.

Actually, it's funnier than that. There was a 'Lacticsofficial' (or something like that) tweeter that was a fake. He confirmed the signing & Sky Sports ran with it a few minutes later. The most cursory of glances might have told them that a mere 35 followers didn't quite smell right. Then they backed out bigstyle.
