Seems like yesterday that Chelsea went bananas and let us buy Robert Smith....possibly our greatest center forward.
Fearless, took a hell of a lot of punishment but meted it out as well.
Scored many a goal for us....but my favourite one was against Spain at Wembley when,on the run,he chipped the ball over the goalie's head for abeauty.
Mind you,he was very down to earth and liked his chat with his local bookie.
He scored the first goal in the 60-61 Cup Final, another beauty by the way,but maybe shouldn't have been on the field.
The story was that days before the final he had a dead leg and sneaked out of his hotel for a private doctor's treatment.......
Anyway, how could I forget him? This was my way of remembering him.

Chose 'NotSoMightyEastbourneBoro' as they are my local team and the one I usually pick on Football Manager to see how far up the league I can get them. My local team so one of the teams I have watched the most (after Sutton Utd - Dad's team - and Brighton). And obviously they are not very mighty in the least.

Was originally 'Original Suffering Spur' on here and BBC 606 due to the effects of supporting Spurs since the mid-80's. Then changed to 'Khumalo-Naughton-Gomes' in an attempt to shift some of our mediocre players as there was a phase where any players name in any of our usernames meant they would soon leave. I think it took three years for Khumalo to go though.

No avatar as have the technical ability of a herring but would probably be Eastbourne's badge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastbourne_Borough_F.C.

When and how did Eastbourne Borough FC originate NSMEB? I was brought up in Lewes, just up the road from you and in the early sixties there were to teams in Eastbourne, Eastbourne Town, who played near the cricket ground and Eastbourne United who played at Princes Park. I had never head of Eastbourne Borough then. Eastbourne United were always the better team and if I recall went from the Athenian League up to the Isthmian League. Town always played in the Sussex County League. Did the two teams combine to form Borough or what?

Back in the BBC days I was 'Alfie Conn's Afro'. As there is an 'Alfie Conn' already I decided to pick a new 'nom de post'. I used to watch a lot of televised football with a group of guys. One, my cousin, is from 'Norn Iron' and was immediately 'The Doog', another is a great mimic [he has made a living as an Elvis impersonator and a stand-up comedian at times] does a freakily good impersonation of Brian Clough. Someone, it might have been me, suggested we were becoming the 1970 ITV World Cup Panel. Another of the group is a Palace fan and jumped at being Malcolm Allison. I didn't fancy being Bob McNab or Paddy Crerand [as thy're both colossal ****ers] which left Brian Moore.

I always liked Brian Moore, well both of them actually. My brother played rugby with the ex-England hooker and was in the next room to him at Nottingham University. So. I became Brian. As the Cloughie of our group always had most to say, regularly I found myself saying...."Thanks for that, Brian" . It's kind of stuck.
" Sorry about that Brian......

The music of Paul Weller is the only thing (outside my family) that rivals my love of Tottenham Hotspur, and I chose this song for these lines
'And the more I see, the more I know The more I know, the less I understand' - because in footballing terms that's often how I feel!

Never liked him after The Jam.

Should have called yourself Billy Hunt
