I live less than 2 miles from TCOMS (Eastlands) and can confirm they have many many concerts throughout the year and have done for years.

They can even hold athletic meetings there if they take the first two rows of seats out (which they are designed to be removed easily), not much demand for that though.

But London has more concerts and more large venues so you need to be the best to attract the biggest names. The removable pitch means you can have events during the football season too and right through the summer because you don't damage the grass.

Since City are one of the teams we need to catch then we need to have similar numbers of concerts

I think the link was rubbish because of the stadium name change. It seems to be about 5 or six a year

Clutching at what? 20 events a year is perfectly feasible which is many times more than anyone else has.

It's feasible mate, so is 52 events per year. The trick is to get them.

It's got it's own cheese room and micro-brewery, what else would you want if you were going to a gig?

On a serious note regarding football matters and Spurs, the new ground went roughly 100% over budget (not unusual for a big project to go over but 100% is bad).
It cost around £1B to complete at a time when Spurs had a great manager and were flying/competing in the league and Europe. Of that £1B i am prepared to guess (and it is only a guess) that the whole sliding pitch and NFL under pitch (plus additional extended changing rooms) cost around £200M.
That kind of money would have given the manager a good chance to improve the team further and strengthen the sqaud (he was crying out for backing) which could have led to Spurs actually winning something and making a name for themselves in the sport they are supposed to be in.
It would also have probably kept them in CL qualification places which is worth between £30M and £60M per season. Instead they have neglected the team and thrown an extra £500M into a hope that the NFL and concerts will pay the same £60M per season that the CL would.

The stadium had to go so over budget to make sure Levy got his £3m bonus for delivering it on time (even though it was still late)

Takes a lot of pulling back. Even if the owners decide to sell they can't say "we want £2B because the stadium alone cost £1B, who would buy the stadium for that kind of money <laugh>
Football stadiums are pretty worthless to anyone but a football club, all you need as proof of this is to see how many have been left to rot or just turned into rubble. The land it stands on is the value and nothing more.

There is something that doesn't quite sit straight with this. We are talking about a club that couldn't compete (with the "big boys") for players because they had no money yet, they found £1B (although they loaned half of it) for a stadium and have also found a few mil to build hotels and a housing complex.
Do THFC actually own all this and have paid for it with money they always claimed they never had or do ENIC own it and pay THFC a management fee?
Who gets the new profits from all the NFL and gig stuff (if they materialise)?
