Brizzlebluebird and Mrs Brizzle's musings from the Pick & Shovel
So, after a little jaunt to Henley on Thames for a night away, the missus and I returned home to digest the weekends sporting events.
The Positives
- A good quick start by the seems of things and an early goal for another of the newbies brought in to add a more dynamic and attack minded style of play (not to mention a correct scorer for me in the prediction league
).
- A first run out for Philogene & Etete
- The managers honesty in his assessment at the end.
- We're not Man United! (Or Swansea).
The Negatives
- Nelson... We can't comment too much as no highlights have been seen yet and we weren't at the game, but being as he was brought in as a replacement for Ng and he gives away a penalty that ultimately galvanised the opposition and gave them a way back into the game, you have to think Ng will be walking straight back into the 11.
- Denting the feel good factor. After coming away from the CCS bouncing at how well everything seemed to be knitting together, yesterday was a very timely reminder that we have a long way to go. The possession stats were still good but if we don't do enough with it then we are in danger of being like our little cousins down the road... Pretty football can also be pointless if it doesn't yield results. There's a fine balance to strike.
Mrs Brizzle Says
As much as she loved her night away, she can't help but be disappointed that both the mighty Bluebirds fell to defeat along with her beloved Wurzles (in front of a sellout crowd no less).
To continue a nautical theme after taking a trip up and down the Thames, she thinks the lifeboats may already need launching at Ashton Gate and has suggested we may want to get a distress flare ready at the CCS too.....
Personally I think she's going a bit overboard and Captain Morison will steer us right and keep us on an even keel during the season.
This is a disappointing set back but we all knew the waters would get choppy occasionally on this journey. We just need to stick with it, hoist the main sail again next time out and set course for three more points.
Now, pass the port Mrs Brizzle... The sun is over the yardarm.
