Boruc - 11
Clyne - 9
Fonte - 3
Lovren - 4
Shaw - 8
Schneiderlin - 5
Wanyama - 10
Lallana -1
Davis - 7
Rodriguez - 2
Lambert - 6

Shaw has been rated too high for me by many. full backs have replaced the wingers in the modern game and..........1 assist?

Davis, our third best player? Blimey, I must be out of touch.

Not saying he is our 3rd best player on ability, just ranking them this season on how many times I have said they were man of the match. I have always had a soft spot for Davis.

This season Boruc has kept the third highest number of clean sheets in the Premier League and only Cech has a better minutes per goal ratio and yet almost everyone has him at 10 or 11? Bizarre.

I've done these based on how much I think they'd be missed if they weren't able to play. Eg. Wanyama and Clyne are lowest ranked as they have the most able replacements (Cork and Chambers), alongside the impact they have on the team (see the top 3)

Then Boruc has to be #1!

Cork not even in you team?
Thought someone might ask <laugh> Wanyama has more starts and MP seems to prefer him. I do think that Cork has, on the whole, had a better season than Wanyama, but he did have to get used to playing with new players and had injury problems. Wanyama is needed in the side for his defensive work, so Cork is competing with Morgan, who is hard to drop, for the playmaker role.

It's based on their performances over the whole of the 13-14 season. Wanyama is 11th because he struggled a little at first, but in the last 4 games he was brilliant.

Apart from costing us two points on Sunday, right?

Thats surprising, it seems like Wanyama hardly ever started (my memory of the start of last season is already fading!). That said, on this very forum, Cork has constantly got the man of the match or has been right up there. I accept that Wanyama has a had a great couple of games recently but Cork has probably been better than Schneiderlin this year.

Anyway, a team is not just 11 players, your list needs 13 at least. Maybe Ward-Prowse and Chambers should be added as well.

How can anybody say Steve Davis hasn't been ont of our top eprformers this year?! Consistently effective and has played more killer passes slipped through the defence than anybody else (at least to my eye)

He's been good but inconsistent.

It's not hard to play more killer passes than Schneiderlin, Cork and Wanyama. Davis has been one of the most frustrating for me; he does a lot of things well, but keeping the ball isn't one of them. I hate to see a player, upon receiving the ball, put his head down and just run straight into a defender. He tries to force it forward quickly but he doesn't have the ability to take people on. Also if we want a central midfielder who can score and create goals (and we really, really do), Davis is the logical one to be dropped to the bench.

My top eleven players (ranked purely by ability and none of these other silly criteria):

Lallana
Lovren
Shaw
Lambert
Wanyama
Schneiderlin
Ramirez
Rodriguez
Boruc
Clyne
