lots of banter about this on the BBC transfer day page
From Howie, via text: "Re 1709. The quality of the SPL aside, at Grant Holt's age will he ever get another chance to compete for silverware or play in Europe?"
1709: I'm yet to hear from anyone who thinks Grant Holt should swap Carrow Road for Ibrox, but get in touch if you disagree. Anyway, onwards and upwards.
From Ian in Norwich, via text: "The Canaries would be mad to sell Holt at such a late stage in the window. If we did, we would need to bring in a last minute replacement. Fernando Torres? Not much has been said about him?"
1654: Here's some news of a move that looks like it won't be happening. Rangers have confirmed they have had a bid for Norwich striker Grant Holt turned down by the Canaries. The likes of Chris Woods, 'Disco' Dale Gordon and, er, Kevin Drinkell have all made the move from Carrow Road to Ibrox in the past but, with Norwich doing so well in the Premier League and with him having cult status in Norfolk, you have to ask why the 30-year-old Holt would want to leave, even if Norwich were willing to sell him? Thoughts.

LOVE this disco dale reference

problem is wonky, rangers are potentially weeks away from being wound up! they may very well go to the wall so it makes perfect sense. make a vague offer at a ridiculously low price for a proven striker knowing full-well it will be rejected and tell the supporters 'well we tried but they wanted too much'

Again, it's an empty move. Just by saying it, what will it do? I doubt a business would do that.

knowing rangers football club as i do, i wouldn't put it past them (i have connections to the club by the way <ok>)
i reckon they will show exactly how little ambition they have and attempt to sign sandaza from st johnstone instead.

A german friend went to the old firm derby and sat with the Celtic fans. He clapped when Rangers scored, at which point the celtic fans snarled, are you the ****ing hun, to which he replied Ja, I am german. FOrtunately they all fell about laughing rather than put an empty bottle of buckfast over his head
