Part of the reason for that was because of the ex-England under-19 international's time-keeping but having recovered from a knee problem and reported to the training ground on time for the last few weeks, he will travel to St. Mary's this weekend.

"My punctuality hasn't been the best and the gaffer said it would be six weeks of training with the Reserves and that I wouldn't be in his squads until further notice," Ranger admitted in an exclusive nufc.co.uk interview.
"So I've just been getting in on time, training and putting my head down and doing what I do best. I'll just keep putting my head down and grafting."

Ranger scored for the under-21s against Sunderland last week after recovering from injury and although Pardew's hand has been forced with several injuries to key players, the Magpies manager has admitted that the former England under-19 has improved his attitude in recent weeks.
And the player has pledged not to let his standards slip after working hard to force his way back into the reckoning at St. James' Park.
"It's a start and the gaffer is showing me what can happen if I keep making progress with my behaviour off the field and getting into training on time," Ranger said.
"He's given me a few minutes and hopefully there are more to come. I've just got to take any chance I get.
"People say that I've got potential and that I'm wasting it, so I've sat myself down and thought 'listen, I need to get myself together here and graft.'
"I want to play for this team and I now realise that I need to concentrate, behave myself and get rewarded.
"It's good that I've had a cheeky little seven minutes - but that makes me hungry for more."

The phrase 'cheeky little seven minutes' says it all.
I'd walk over broken glass for one minute.
What a prick.

Getting your opinion across is fine.

Personal insults... Well... Shows you up to be lacking in class.

Interesting to see such a comment needed revision too.

If you're genuinely that insulted by the word 'pillock' then frankly you need to grow up. And no, it doesn't show a 'lack of class'. Some people deserve to be insulted, and for your comment you were one of them. You're just reading way too much into a few words that Ranger said and trying to find a reason to hate him. There's should be enough genuine ones without you needing to make them up.

The other two replies to make don't make any sense so I'm not going to bother replying to them

Hes only a kid and he should get a chance to change given he's already acheived more in life than any of you.

Ranger

its all silly mr meaners for god sake hes a kid and the fact he managed to be a pro footballer shows he has something if yo ask me.

there's lots of decent pros out there Mr T.
Everyone deserves a second chance.
It's just hat this lad has had several second, third and fourth chances and blew them all, if it isn't lateness then it's court appearances.. he clearly will never learn.
He's dragging our club through the dirt like no other player IMHO and it isn't acceptable.
Especially when the supporters who pay his wages earn peanuts compared and don't have a problem turning up for work or staying out of trouble with the law.

Taken from Wiki....

In 2007, at the age of 15, he was sentenced to 11 weeks in a young offenders institute after being convicted of participating in street robbery in Muswell Hill, London.

On 27 August 2011 he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a man in Newcastle city centre leaving the victim unconscious in the street, but was found not guilty of this in trial in October 2012.[14]

In October 2011 he was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Newcastle's Cathedral Square. The charge came only days after Ranger had been reinstated to Newcastle United's first-team training after a three-month exile in the club's reserves.

[15] In March 2012 he was convicted of being drunk and disorderly and was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £135 costs.[16] Prior to this, in May 2011 Ranger was questioned by Newcastle after posing with a replica gun in a photograph.[17] The gun was later handed in.[18]

In March 2012, he was fined by The FA for making homophobic comments on social networking website Twitter.[19] Later in the month he was arrested once more, this time for breaching terms of his bail whilst awaiting trial on four assault charges.[16]

In the early hours of 23 September 2012, police were called to a house in Enfield, north London after reports of a disturbance. The front door of the property was badly damaged and Ranger was arrested at the scene and later charged with criminal damage. He was found not guilty of this on 5 November 2012.[20]

I think it's safe to say that he's been in more trouble than the entire NUFC squad combined.
Not an example to set kids.

He's like me and for that reason I think eventually he'll turn things around if I can do it anyone can.

Ranger is terrible at football. He's fast, but with ball at feet he's woeful. His finishing is pretty Kieran Dyer too...

The fact is then, I'd rather have Obertan than someone who has shown such a lack of professionalism and respect for our club. Anyone else in any other job would have been sacked instantly with any one of the crimes on his rap-sheet. Why we play a crap player to treat us like crap is beyond me <ok>
