Have I mentioned that I ****ing hate Norwich?

New to me, but I´m sure you´re not the first, and hardly likely to be the last non-Norwich supporter to feel that way - can´t quite see what it has to do with Ramsey being manager or not, though. ;)

Can see plenty of parallels between him and Adams, and in the way they were cajoled into a job they couldn´t refuse.

Whilst I'm a big fan of continuity, it's the wrong decision in my opinion. He lacks experience, he's made some strange selections and used odd formations. His points per game is even less than Harry's meagre achievement. He had the chance to prove what he could do and he has failed. And all those who say he had to make do with what Harry left him should look at what Sherwood, Pulis, Advocaat and Pardew have achieved with other managers' leftovers.

Having said all that, he's a decent, likeable, honest and eloquent man who may be a good youth coach (not that we appear to have quality youths who are ready to kick down the door to the first team). This may sound like faint praise but they are all qualities which his predecessor sorely lacked.

With that off my chest, I am a lifelong QPR fan and I will now give him another chance. I will resist being critical from day one.

Well done, Chris, and good luck. I genuinely wish you well.

A good post - the only thing I would say is, of the successful managers you mention, the squads in Aston Villa, West Brom, Crystal Palace and even Sunderland had an array of talented Premier League players. They were all under-performing squads.

Apart from Austin and possibly Green, we had little talent in the team - Fer perhaps, but he's been out injured. Vargas, possibly, but he got injured. Remy was sold and not replaced. Mutch was sold and not replaced. Seems to me we performed according to the talent that was left. I can't place much blame on Ramsey. I agree with you, we should give him a chance.

Clive's view of things:-

Conclusions
Impossible to draw. I don't think I'm known for sitting on the fence but what more can you do here? I can make as many arguments for this being the best news ever as I can the worst. We wanted a football man on the board, we wanted a long term plan, we wanted young players being given a chance, we wanted discipline to be imposed, we wanted people who treat our club with respect. We've got it.

Start praying it works.

Pretty much spot on. No wonder the fan base is split.

Pretty much agree with what Goldhawk said , he inherited a team that was nosediving fast plus he lost most of the back room staff i e, Jordan and Hoddle . He was on a hiding to nothing but now at least he can have the summer and pre season to make his mark , after all he can't do any worse than MH or HR ( that comment might come back to bite me on the arse ! ) . Ok he's no Ancelloti but then again we aren't Real Madrid . If he and Tone can clear out all the dead wood then in my eyes he's got half a chance.

Come on, Col, that was an interesting post from the Norwich fan.

Bothers me not , Rodney, he´s by no means unusual, as it seems to me these days, that at least half the population are not content unless they´ve got something or someone to hate. As it happens, I don´t fall into that category, and can live a perfectly contentful life without that need - just wondering what on earth he´ll get up to if we actually go and win the play-off final on Monday <yikes>, with a certain Gary O´Neil ready to lay his life on the line again.

This.

Others seem to say he was on a hiding to nothing taking over from HR which is partly true but you can sure as hell bet that if we'd had a different manager they would have got some better structure & made us harder beat so imo he totally failed the opportunity he was given but that's now history.

Looks like it is more than likely that McClaren is leaving Derby and Clement is lined up for the job.
We got Ramsey!

Why we couldn't have waited a few weeks until the merry go round started I don't know, McClaren was a favourite by many on this forum & now any opportunity has been wasted by TF/Les jumping too soon.

If CR does get off to a bad start next season I wonder how long he'll get before a replacement is considered

See McClarin is off to Newcastle and Paul Clements too Derby.
That will not happen will it

................... on a three year contract?
No, just more of the same......................... and it could be good! We can only hope so.

i wonder why we did give him a 3 year contract? i'd have hedged my bets given his inexperience and gone for something shorter. Bit more of an issuance policy for the club if it goes tits up. but maybe 3 is the minimum you'd give anybody?? Dunno.
