Not making an attacking substitution until, what, the 74th min or something. And now a couple of comments on no identifiers replacements - it is hardly that we could do any worse, and I never buy into this side of things, loads of managers out there that could be getting more points. 4 wins from 27, and still loads on here are satisfied with that, absolutely baffling.
No one is satisfied with that. Some of us are not convinced that sacking the manager is the solution.
Morning Archers. Well, what is the solution - to purchase an attacker? Would you think we get a proper striker, maybe an inform Ings back, would solve our issiues? Be interested to hear your views on how not sacking the manager will change things.
Not having a striker had cost us already, so we need to put that right in January for sure. We have bought a lot of promising young talent, they still need time to bed in though. I’m not convinced everything is as bleak as some people are making out. We lost away to Palace, big ****ing deal. I think we’ll get the points we need to stay up, and I don’t think changing manager will help unless we have someone definite lined up. Sorry I had a go at you yesterday, I was angry at the entitled gobshite ****ers booing after the final whistle yesterday. There weren’t many of them btw, but they were loud. Loud enough to stop the players from coming over to applaud the fans. Most of the support was excellent throughout the game btw. I’ll concede the majority of fans probably do want Ralph out now, but beware the opinion of the majority. To quote Super Hans from Peep Show; Never trust the people; people like Coldplay, and voted for Hitler.
I think people are banking on the younger players improving and Adams and Armstrong suddenly becoming PL strikers.
Thanks, and no worries about y’day. Thought something was up as youre not like that, although you likely had a point. Im a bit of a melt at times I guess. The striker issue is why I have sympathy for Ralph, and it was a total failure by the Board not to address this. Saying we nearly got one is like not trying at all. I like the approach with Kids, but it needs balance. I thought Aribo played better y’day, and saw on SWF a minority moaning about him, shows what do i know. But losing against Palace isnt a big deal. The continued run of form is, and this defeat is part of it. I think someone else will come in and address the way we play, as for me we are all over the place just now, not sure how to defend, not idea how to attack, that sits with Ralph. He has naturally been scarred by the many humpings we have received, which is why someone else for me will look at things differently, and move the group forward. We are better than 4 wins from 27. This form will likely take us down, and I think SR will have been addressing who is going to come in. They have laid out a handsome sum of money for the purchase and players, they wont risk that, gamblers always hedge their bets. Or so im told.
Only a fool would bank on anything concerning Saints. I’ve been supporting them for half a century so I know better than to do that. The young players will improve given the right coaching and support, there’s talent there. Che is a PL striker already, but at best a 10 goal a season one. Nobody thinks he’s going to turn into Alan Shearer.
Going back to St’s original question, what is going to change if Ralph stays? The Rinners are quite vocal about changing manager not being the answer, but how are we going to improve without making any changes? People say “we will be ok” and “we should get enough points” but this complacency feels very much like 2005. Just buying a striker in January is more of a gamble in my opinion, we’re dependent on getting a deal over the line and someone coming in and scoring goals. We won’t be buying a proven 26/27y old striker as it’s not our model.
My opinion. We are not going to be ok, we are going to back slide further. We will lose confidence with more narrow defeats from average to poor performances.
Jeez youre hard work! Yep the same one. If you think that is worth his constant place in the team, cos he did that once, then im not sure what else to say. We clearly have differing views on what good looks like. And Ely aint good. All you have done is made a case for my point - he got 1 assist, and by and large is missing from games. But its ok, as Ralph likes the way our attacking MFs defend.
And what striker is going to want to come if the mandate in the interview is how good are you at defending?
I’m with you. He is utter toilet. One good game doesn’t change that. Genuinely think he is a league one level player. Ralph focuses too much on defensive running about and nowhere near enough on who can actually kick a ball
We’ll change by improving the squad. That won’t happen overnight, given several years of minimal investment. The defence has already improved considerably. The goals we’ve conceded this season haven’t, by and large, been due to the one-per-game predictable howlers every one of our CBs tended to throw in over the previous few seasons. We finally have a goalkeeper we can be confident in. We are light in midfield , and Romeu is a big loss, granted. We were much stronger in possession once AMN came in yesterday though. We all know we need a striker. Unfortunately they don’t grow on trees, scoring goals is the hardest thing to do on a football pitch especially against PL defences.
