Cheers Driff, the thread served its purpose though, they've proven they have no tangible or decent argument against the club or the name change, they never did have. It was always about a select group who think they're holier than thou, who don't want the club to get past the 70s and 80s which is where they're stuck.
Simply put, they don't want success, they think every football fan should only ever support a club within 2 miles of their birth and that the best bit of a game is screaming abuse at other likeminded neanderthals from the other team. The football is secondary to them. They also expect and demands standards of others that they quite clearly are not capable of meeting themselves.
They think they're clever swamping this thread in noise but I'm happy to say that more and more people are seeing them for what they are, and they peaked months ago with membership signups, which says it all really.
Appologies in advance Party!!!
I think most are happy with our current success, best ever League season, best cup run, potential cup final, potential European campaign ahead - all achieved as Hull City AFC.
AA & now EA have at no point offered reasonable evidence that their plan will succeed. They have lied, threatened & misled the media & more importantly the supporters.
The club will break even this year & be in profit next year, again achieved as Hull City AFC, confirmed by EA in their joint interview on Sky. If the club continues to succeed the club will continue to be in profit. We have a wage bill that is less than 30% of our income, confirmed by EA in his open letter. This puts the club in an extremely comfortable position, a position achieved as Hull City AFC.
We need new sponsorship next season to replace existing deals that are ending. These will be better deals than we have had previously because Hull City AFC have been successful.
Why would any business performing at a 110 year peak, receiving free international exposure along with a massive increase in income coupled with a healthy wage/income ratio, re-brand itself? The answer in our case is simple - The owner is blinkered by his hatred of HCC, he is prepared to risk the continued success of the club & the club's historic name in an endeavour to piss them off. The irony is HCC don't give a **** & the ones who do give a **** he casts aside without thought.
It's time he apologised for this whole episode, it doesn't mean he's wrong, it does mean he'd be showing that he values the relationship the club has with the supporters higher than his ego.
