Just moving on from that other thread, I was wondering, how much do you guys think you rely on Sessegnon for your attacking and general threat on the pitch?

Everything seems to go through the guy, and apart from Campbell, there seems to be a lack of real quality strikers at the moment, so not only is he pulling the strings, but he's scoring goals himself and setting up other players to score throughout the side. That's by the looks of things, anyway.

Do you think he's the major driving force behind how well you guys are doing? More importantly, how do you think you guys would perform as a team if he wasn't there (injury for example)? Who do you think would replace him in the XI?

Sess is without doubt a key player for us but I think, the way things are going, that if he was out we would cope.

We have a few players who could do his role, maybe not as well but do it all the same, if behind the question is, are we a one man team, IMO, no.

I have long said we need a striker or two but that looks to be a summer job and we seem to be getting by without one.

Unquestionably, we play through Sessegnon a lot, as he is a very special player, but a lot of the reason Sess gets the ball a lot is because of his role.

If Sess was missing, we could channel attacks down the wings through McLean and Larsson, who both have outstanding delivery, so the world wouldn't end, and we wouldn't crash and burn.

People rightly point to Sess, as he is such an incredible footballer, capable of playing for any team, IMO, but the main strength we have is actually the defence, which has been solid as a rock.

As it stands, we rarely need more than 1 goal to win, so being without Sess wouldn't kill us.

I'd be ****ing gutted/heartbroken/suicidal if anything happened to the lad though, he's just wonderful, and should be given a long, lucrative contract right now.

I noted him blowing kisses and really enjoying his goal last night, and I think that after a tricky start, he's starting to really enjoy himself here.

He's looking really settled now isnt he. I'd go as far to say he is the best player in the north east at the moment..

Yep, i'd find that hard to argue, Ba has been/is fantastic for the Mags, but Sess is all over the park, so he shades it, just, for me.

I just love having a player like him here mate, even on an off day he's involved and busy, last night a prime example.

Not much came off for him, but he had loads of the ball, never gave up, and scored the winner.

    He's sensational.

YEs yes and yes - make him the highest paid player ever at the club for me!!

He's class - but since O'Neill took over at the club, 9 or 10 players have scored goals for Sunderland so he is not the only goal scorer - also about 9 players have assisted those goals so he is not the only creator - but he is a fantastic player to watch (I didn't think he played well last night however - regardless of the goal) - Settled, happy and the sort of player we have long been looking for at Sunderland - he's class

I think every team is a one man team to be honest, but that's only because I think the realistic definition of a one man team is a team which has a very influential talisman who plays a big part. I can't think of any team, anywhere, which would go from being good to being absolute dross by missing a single player, so I don't think that notion of a one man team would ever really happen.

Newcastle have Ba, Sunderland have Sessegnon, Wolves have Doyle, Spurs have Modric, Man City have Silva, Man Utd have Rooney, Arsenal RVP and so on. Would be big misses, but as we've proven, teams can chug along without them (and christ, we chugged along with arguably one of the worst strike forces in the league in Ameobi and Best).

I just wonder what sort of percentage Sessegnon contributes towards your teams current good run of form. He literally seems to be involved in everything, so whilst there would be a drop in performance with him out, I wonder how far the drop would be, so to speak?

As mentioned Chappaz, the goals and assists have been spread right across the team, Sess IS the man, but he is not the whole thing.

I thought Sess was pretty awful last night (Wasn't alone) but he reminded me of his form under Bruce where he'd often run down blind channels but his passing wasn't the best either. So a pretty poor performance from him but he pops up with the winning goal.

Just magic, sign of a very good player. I wouldn't mind seeing McCLean in Sess's role if he's out injured for Saturday or even Ricco who has been excellent when he's played behind the front man in the past.

Sorry Chappaz, we should be just fine even if he is missing for a couple of games ;-)

Sess is our best player but I think Larsson, Gardner or Richardson could drop into the play maker role, they would not be as good as Sess but with players like McClean in the side I think we could cope without Sess, unlike coping without Bent who was our whole team.

We need to break the bank to keep Sess he is the best player we have had a SAFC since SKP.

My thoughts on this will not get universal agreement on here, but if Sess did get injured, I believe that Richardson would fit into his role behind the centre forward quite well..From what I have seen, that is undoubtedly his best position.

You guys make me laugh up the road you really do, as soon as you get in a couple of half decent forwards you waffle on about 'a real lack of quality' in our team. Last year you were playing with Ameobi and Ranger...Pah!! hardly setting the world alight.

    Get a grip.

    Are you an idiot?

Wait, why am I asking, of course you are.

Many teams have a talisman, someone who simply provides a bit more than other players. The other players can be great (Cabaye and Tiote in our side, for example) but many teams often have one player who just contributes that little bit more.

Are you whinging because you disagree, or whinging because I'm a mag?

    Wickham - Still young
    Dong-won - Still young
    Bendtner - Bit crap really
    Campbell - Looks promising

So, Campbell aside, do you think you're lacking quality strikers at the moment?

Are you a boring arrogant pompous idiot?
    Of course you are!
So Bale is only a talisman?
You really are a thick **** and to mention your two in the same breath as if they could tie Bales laces.
Bale would walk into any team in the world.

Take one of two players between Bale and Modric.

    Bale every time.

Modric for me, so there you go. I think losing Modric would harm Spurs' performances more than losing Bale.

OF course it has nothing to do with suiting your **** argument that all teams are one man teams.

Chappaz, no doubt you often grind on some people but have to agree with you on this one. As much as you canbe a right **** at times I can't figure out why the hostile response to a fairly valid arguement on your behalf. Have you been secretly knobbing MR's wife on the sly or something?
