Recorded the game and just watched it back, **** me we were unlucky today. Barring a miracle we are going down but if we can at least go down fighting like we did today it'll be easier to take.

Really wish Armstrong had managed the goal he deserved today, he was rampaging all over the shop, more of that please sinclair. Haven't read the thread yet so don't know the general consensus but Colback was his usual 'can't really be arsed, guaranteed booking, offer nothing' self, Cannon was a bit all over the shop, Dunne and JCS were decent but Willock and even Chair were a bit anonymous.

Smyth had a cracking cameo and if we had a proper striker they would surely have got on the end of one of his 3 or 4 great crosses. I know we've all scoffed at it but a Chris Martin would've been there. I do not understand why we don't have players, Dykes especially, busting a git to get in the box.

Anyway so unlucky, deserved at least a draw if not the win but once again an opportunity to make up ground lost, I won't say squandered as we were better than that.

I wonder with Cannon if people were just so happy to be rid of Kakay they stopped to question if the guy was any good or not. Pretty **** today IMO and hasn’t been up to much after a promising start.

Not able to go or follow today so just read this thread.

Good to hear we played well but we've had that before and still lost those games too which only has one outcome.

Looks like League 1 is pretty much where we will end up. The question then becomes as to whether we will do an Ispwich or a Reading?

Neither. We’ll just finish 16th for ten years.

The team out there is our strongest is good enough to stay up & can beat anyone on our day, think it’s just a mental block with our players & just coping with it

I've generally been impressed with him but today he played like a spider on rollerskates.

Beggars belief!
You criticise Colback and I get that he's the latest whipping boy, but not Armstrong, who should have had a hat trick at least. I thought Colback was very good first half, doing "unnoticed" stuff very well.
Amazing how we all see things differently.
I really rate JCS, but I thought he was absolutely terrible today, giving the ball away over and over again and clumsily fouling.
Chris Martin?
He's less mobile than Dykes!
At least we all agree on Smyth and I can only think he's not a good trainer being the reason he's not starting every game.

Ridiculous to have Willock in his current mode starting ahead of Smyth.

Agree Strolls. If he’s off at the end of the season then let Smyth start and just use Willock as in impact sub. Though he made very little impact from the bit I saw today.

Am I the only one that thought Begovic should have done better with the first goal? He seemed to be badly positioned and was very slow to get across his goal.

Not sure just seen the highlights. Armstrong missed a few didn’t he?

Yeah, defenders must hate playing against his pace and strength, but he's just not very good at football. He could have won the game for us. Based on what else we have available (bugger all) I'd persist with him up top, though. Dykes is better in the slightly withdrawn role, too. At least we have a bit of a goal threat with this set up.

I thought the same at the time mate, but after watching it back I think the deflection off of Colback made it unsavable.

Oh, didn't realise there was a deflection.

Sorry, there wasn't. It was the second goal mate. They were so similar I got them mixed up. Yes, Begovic should've done better with the first one. It seems to me that he's too busy promoting his goalkeeping school and selling his merchandise rather than concentrating on keeping goal for us.

Gutted about the result today, we deserved so much more. Armstrong was a real handful for them. Granted he missed a couple of opportunities but saying that, not one other player has the pace or power to make those scenarios happen to start with. Chair and cannon were both poor. Colback started alright but I always get the feeling that he would prefer to get sent off than play 90 mins. I'm still convinced Marti will keep us up and it's still a million times better than under Ainsworth
