Plus, he didn't turn his back. He tried to block with his instep, but couldn't quite get there. Two others did the same, but only Colback gets the hate. Scapegoat doesn't begin to cover it.
Another “if we play like that every week we’ll be ok” but we won’t. Genuinely amazing how we find such innovative ways to lose. Livermore doesn’t average two a season and he sticks two past us outside the box in five minutes. Colback… just awful.
The one in injury time was superb and he’s a pretty average keeper normally. To get such a strong arm on it was really good keeping.
So, in the first half, Colback won the ball, intercepted the ball and played lots of neat and tidy passes. Exactly what someone who plays in his position is supposed to do. He's been poor, but not today. Out of all our players, you say he was awful. Ridiculous. Were you pissed?
He was ****. Managed his customary ridiculous lunge and offered nothing on the ball then misses a brilliant chance. There’s a reason he’s here- no one else wanted him.
Colback’s strength was always being a terrier, breaking play up, getting a foot in. But with age, his pace and sharpness has dropped off, meaning he now invariably catches the man rather than the ball. So he’s a walking yellow/red card and a huge risk at this level
He wasn't ****. He had to take the booking, because Clarke-Salter, who WAS ****, left him no choice. I realise you're on the wind up, but there were many worst players than him out there for us.
I agree. However, he had a good first half. Unfortunately, once some people take a disliking to a player, they never get any praise. I think Dykes is ****, but if he does, unbelievably, do something good, I say so. Colback is well passed his best and hasn't been good, apart from the first couple of games. Today, though, he played well.
We deserved to get something from that game. Armstrong playing up alongside Dykes makes us much more threatening. Dykes's link up play was good throughout and Armstrong is a real handful for defenders. His control is poor though and he panics in front of goal. They had two shots on target and both went in, with Livermore given the freedom of Loftus Road to pick his spot. I thought Begovic was poor for the first one, though. Colback is a liability. He doesn't win the ball, he just fouls people constantly. He should have scored, too. Willock, disinterested as ever, should have come off instead of Chair. Sick.
I agree this is our best formation and we played better. We will still lose and get relegated without a scoring goals.
Dykes was terrible! Colback constantly won the ball first half and hardly ever gave it away. Amazing how we all see the same game so differently.
It looked like 4-4-2 in possession, but unfortunately, that gave them a lot of space in the centre. Unfortunately, neither Armstrong nor Dykes are good enough, but I'd continue with Armstrong for his pace alone.
We did not deserve to lose that. We cannot convert our chances...and their goalie made a couple of excellent saves, which was out if character for him. The Dunne save was amazing. Colback played well in first 60 minutes, but faded and was responsible for a bad miss. Dunne played well, Clark-Salter was OK...but he caused Colback yellow. Armstrong was outstanding as was Smyth when on. Dykes did OK, playing behind Armstrong... I didn't think Paal or Willock were very interested .... but we were hit by 2 excellent goals. This was the best performance in ages...if we can reproduce it going forward who knows
Colback should have been booked for persistent fouling long before he actually got booked for scything their man down. Dykes wasn't terrible at all. His link up play and pressing was good.
He didn’t have to take the booking at all in that position and certainly not with a tackle like that á la Sunderland. I’m not on the wind up. You’re just clueless and don’t see him live. He’s crap.
Don’t see Dykes in that position at all, with or without the ball. Didn’t seem to be anywhere near Livermore who was presumably his man. You’ve got Willock, Chair and Smyth, probably the three best attacking players. Just play them.
The lack of a natural finisher is going to be our downfall, so many promising chances but it's like knowing a car crash is going to happen when we f*ck up. All our front players lack anticipation and fail to read play quickly enough. If we don't bring in a striker we have no chance with the current lot. Sinclair is not a natural striker and still has his 'L' plates, that said his enthusiasm and presence would be a great foil to a proper strike partner...
You obviously were pissed. He's been poor, but not today. He took the booking to prevent the breakaway. Clarke-Salter, Cannon, Paal, Willock, Dykes and Dixon-Bonner were all much, much worse. Armstrong should of had a hat trick, but he's not a very good footballer. Colback is the favourite scapegoat.
