Match Preview;
Since beating Preston 0-1 at their place in December it has not been much fun. We've won 1, yes just 1, of our 16 games since that victory. A run that saw Critchley dismissed, Ainsworth come in, all while we slipped from playoff contenders to a relegation scrap. More rumbling about Ferdinand's position as DoF this week, and one has to wonder what is going on for so many managers to be unsuccessful in getting us even near the playoffs. We now sit 3 points from the relegation zone. Says it all really, what a shambles.
As for Preston, they now sit 10th, and 5 points off the playoff places, so they need to start picking up points if they are going to make a late push for the top six. They've won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last five games, and their top scorer is Ched Evans, with 9 goals.
Team News
QPR: Ethan Laird will return after limping off in our previous fixture, at Wigan. with cramp. Ossie Kakay misses out - Sinclair Armstrong and Tim Iroegbunam continue to be assessed.
Preston: Ched Evans will be unavailable for an extended period after developing a serious medical condition. Ali McCann is also out.
Pre-match Talk
Gareth Ainsworth (QPR head coach): “It’s been a tough few months, but we’re looking forward to hopefully getting a positive result again Preston.
“Everyone knows where we are in the league and know what these games mean.
“But we’ve got a good squad and a good set of players. It’s well in our hands and we need to make sure it stays that way.”
Ryan Lowe (Preston manager): “We know going there, it’s going to be a tough place to go. They (QPR) haven’t won as many games as they’d have liked and they’re down at the bottom and needing points, so it’s going to be even harder.
“Look, we’ve got our own targets, we want to try and achieve them small targets for now, and then see where it takes us.
“This Easter period will probably define where we’ll potentially finish and, as I’ve said numerous times, we want to finish as high as we possibly can.”
Enjoy if you can make it to HQ and as always...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
