Match Preview;
After watching last night, I decided to get this match day thread up asap...time to move on. As Jed Bartlet so often said, "what's next?" Last night was a frustrating watch, with what looked like an attacking line-up, but such a defensive mentality. So often attacks turned into back passes as midfielders/defenders looked forward and either had no options available, or didn't want to risk losing possession. It was a very frustrating watch, and certainly puts the pressure on the next couple of games. I do my best not to single out individual players for criticism in these threads, it just comes across as mean, so I'll just say that in general, I want to see a lot more from our strikers...even in terms of movement and giving options for forward passes. I also noticed last night, so many of our corners didn't beat their first defender. We've got to get the basics right.
As for our opponents, Norwich also lost last night. In fact, since beating us 3-1 on November 29th, they've won two, drawn two and lost two. They sit 23rd, on 21 points...so already 4 points from safety. They'll be needing a vastly improved second half of the season to avoid relegation in what is their fourth season back in the Championship after hopping between the Championship and Premiership between 2019 and 2022. Their top scorer is Jovon Makama with 8 goals so far, followed by John Sargent who has 6. They've scored only 26 so far, compared to our tally of 34, but they've conceded 36 to our 37...both teams are in the bottom 5 in terms of goals conceded. Surprising, given I assume their keeper has the advantage of six fingers.
Team news and manager comments to go up if on the official....enjoy if you'll make it to HQ on New Year's Day...hope everyone has a great end to 2025, and as always...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
