Yet again we crumble in the face of a sustained high press early in the 2nd half. Must have seen that a dozen times this season. But today we had some decent options on the bench which rescued a well deserved point.
Another MOTM performance from Colback even if, as always, he was one mistimed tackle or gobbing off away from a red card.
We saw a true striker's goal for the first time in yonks.
It's an ongoing mystery why Willock continues to start ahead of Smyth.
Hodge adds some excitement to the team.

We would not have drawn that match or scored 2 goals if it was played 3 or 4 months ago. It's actually a good result and we could have won it.

Their second goal was virtually a giveaway. We just let them pass it around so easily.

A lot of people around me at the match thought the ref was awful. I actually disagree. I thought he was good. If you think about the difference between us and Norwich in how we applied pressure, we were always going in with the foot. We weren't composed in our challenges and committed unnecessarily at times.

In contrast, Norwich were really composed and calm in how they tried to pressure us when we were on the ball. Very seldom did they fly in for a challenge. I think this is why the ref gave so many decisions their way.
I'm not sure we'd have drawn that and scored those goals 3 weeks ago. We look so much more dynamic with the new blood in the team.

I don't think it's a mystery.
Willock is a technically gifted player, which is obviously what Marti likes.
However, once Frey is up and running, I would expect to see more of Smyth, although his crossing is usually poor.

That seems right. But I'm not sure how much longer he can or will persevere with him. Even managers who are purists and want their players to be creative eventually give up with someone who has the talent but can't be bothered particularly when it becomes critical that the ball players first try and then deliver.

At least we do keep coming back. Under GA, once we went behind, we never looked like coming back. Heads went down and confidence went even further down. New era, different outlook. Well done Marti and the team.
New players are definitely adding to the squad. Let’s hope they get even better as they gel :emoticon-0105-wink:

Just home.
I think we deserved a point. We did not look like a team at the bottom. We matched them...the very slight difference was they had a knowledge of how to win/ not lose, whilst we became a little desperate...

But we got there.

Begovic saved us with a great save.

We are still a bit suspect to a criss or corner, but on the whole...the defence is good...especially with Hayden in front

The midfield has improved with the newbies. Colback has been very impressive in last couple of matches. Hodge is a breath of fresh air.

Chair is chair, and has a great engine, and always gives 100%.
Willock was better today, but actually will have to really fight for game time now...with Smyth and Andersson

Armstrong was menacing, but not very effective ( Norwich had seen his videos) Frey looked heavy, but his touch for the equaliser was everything we have been begging Dykes to do for the last 2 year.

He is not yet fit...but he has a poachers instinct.

All in all unbeaten in 4, a certain belief and positivity around the place and plus.

All 4 new recruits seem a real bonus.

You Rrrs...we can do this

Hodge looks class but I couldn't quite work out where he was supposed to be playing. If he was playing as a number 10, he was too deep and just wasn't in the game enough. I'd like to see Andersen as the number 10. Great to see the two newbies combine for the second goal.

Clarke-Salter MOM for me.

Our season began to change when Ckark Salter was able to play 90min... It became even better when Cook joined him at his side

Totally missed the game due to being sat in Belfast city airport delayed. Good to get some perspectives on the game. Where did Anderson play?

or basically when we were able to leave Dunne out of the starting XI
I am wondering if, now we have Field back, he will take Dunnes place on the bench....far more versatile. ( we have Fox there too).

Can't see Field getting back until Colback gets his 10th yellow card

Wouldn’t disagree with any of that. Team selection is going to be really interesting in the upcoming games. Willock, Field, Armstrong, Dykes, Smyth and Dunne could be watching a lot of football.

Landed and saw the result. Really good to see Frey come into the team and score already. All comments on here seem very positive, just need to turn a good performance and a draw into a win and three points!
