I like him and I want him to do well.Vale was asked to play the most arduous position on the field, midfield pivot he was told to maintain a high press and stop Charlton getting a hold of midfield.
He has been out a full season injured..his previous outings have been limited. He would obviously fade.
He did well for 30 minutes and actually never gave up.

During the game I imagined bringing a new supporter to the game.
If I lied to them and said, we've just got Madsen back from a years injury and he is apparently good. And we have Vale, who is good with his feet but slow, has been booed by the crowd for the last year . the newbie would probably say Madsen was having the better game
