With Dieng I reckon we win today. Need to see the goals again but he’s been done twice avoidably as he was at Blackburn. Admittedly a couple of decent saves too.

Possibly, but the players up top are not good enough..No Austin or Dykes(who are hardly prolific) and we're stuffed.

So on the way back from match...our problems.

Lack of a hungry striker
Two very bad ref decisions against us...Dickie and Dunne both fouled and not given before goals
Absolutely atrocious setting up of the wall for the second goal.
Did I mention lack of a hungry striker.
Two players out late with " illness"..? Covid
Long term injuries to our hungry striker
A very small squad, of which only about 13 or 14 are used.
And did I mention the lack of a hungry striker.

You missed out not good enough,we should have had the game in the bag regardless of the crap officiating. We really need to invest in a striker who gets a good 15/20 goals per season.Austin is always crocked and Dykes just don't score enough. This present squad will never make the playoffs I'm afraid ☹️

A play off place will be a bonus to the season. Looking at the bench today, with no striker, not even a young striker, we looked like we wouldnt be able to change a game if needed.
Some of the premier league teams and those championship clubs with money will surely be looking at the likes of Willock, Field, Dieng, Chair, maybe Dykes and Dunne. I hear some clubs are still scouting Dickie, who in my opinion is overrated anyway but decent at this level. Might be a rebuild next season which would be a shame.

Few and far between

I think we've basically blown it. Defeats against poor sides and totally lacking confidence. Loads of possession but very little threat. Last season the January window turned our season round, this time it seems to have wrecked our season. We could all see the lack of a striker was obvious but we seem to have sleepwalked into this malaise. Ever since the shocking performance at Posh we've looked clueless. Compare that to the chasing pack who all seem to be brimming with confidence and it's hard to see us holding on to a play-off place not that we'd be likely to win them on this form...

Yes,you have to pay for good strikers.
We go for punts which is a longshot or strikers who are past their best.
Championship clubs with money may well look at some of our better players, but
Let's not forget who is the richest club in the EFL.
" richest club in the Championship are QPR with £11.2billion, followed by Stoke City (£6.9billion), Barnsley (£6.7billion), Fulham (£5.8billion) and West Brom (£2billion).5 Nov 2021"

Richest owners does not equal richest club. Especially since FFP.

Dykes has essentially been injured since the last international break...only playing here and there...and only now " running on grass"...Austin layoff for bereavement and Covid... has left us with one striker, who came to us unfit...and went of to play for Jamaica.

I wish we would try out one of the two talented u23s

Think that is owners personal wealth, not club wealth....... What part of "we didn't have the funds in January to splash money on a striker" do people not seem to understand.........

Seriously I get p1ssed off with the twitterati who think that the answer is to splash the cash whenever there's a problem....... That's what got us into this situation in the Hughes/Redknapp years, does anyone seriously want to go back to that situation? We're only not in the sh!te with Derby, Reading, Stoke, Birmingham, Forest due to stringent cost cutting for 5 years and working within strict budgets to keep us from breaching FFP....... Our transfer budget was spent in June/July with Austin/Johansen/Field being signed permanently along with Dunne/Dozzell most might have been Free on Nominal Fees but wages still have to be paid....... plus no doubt funding a % of Grey's wages from Watford.

Now if anyone can identify a 5 or 10 million for a Championship goalscorer and explain where the funds are coming from to pay the fee and their vastly inflated wages be my guest......... Otherwise you just have to accept Wables can only work with what he's got..... him and his staff obviously see the players all day every day and they obviously fell that the 2 18 year old kids in the U23 side aren't ready for the step up at the moment...... why anyone believes differently because they've never seen these kids play, only read about them on twitter of other form of social media I don't know..........

Maybe this season will unfortunately end in disappointment, who knows, we could go unbeaten in the last 11 games and be the form team in the Play Offs....... such is life, but quite frankly there's more worrying issues than simply losing a football match.......
