For the last couple of seasons we have constantly been one or two results from a relegation battle. Given FFP and the lack of resources compared to the bigger clubs, next season is likely to be another struggle and while it's been great to see the youth policy paying some dividends we will need to continue that development with vigour if we hope to make progress. We have the luxury of a few competitive games at the end of the season to see what might work for next but we can say for sure that Mackie will not be part of the strategy. Most importantly, we should be trying to establish the best options in defence with the assumption that Onuoha and Robinson are moving on. And I still believe that us few souls who turn up at the games these days (and I know that includes you Beth) deserve a fully competitive line up for every game and not a testimonial squad. Finally, like all professional footballers Luongo will make his career decisions in his own best interests and not because a club gave him extra days on the beach.
Every thing you say is quite fair.
And I too do hope that Ollie starts with a competitive team..that is investigating possible teams for next season....which actually might not include Luongo, and so the "holiday" may be a clever Ollie plan...

We obviously can afford the luxery of having Mackie and Perch on the bench...

My happy scenario would be an easy match...a 3 nil score line at 80 minutes..and the opportunity to bring on Mackie at least...to have one final run up the line.. clapping and shouting all the way...

... and then the euphoric pitch invasion at the end?

I really hope that the "would-be-invaders" are sensible and heed the warnings from the Club.

However, I do remember a glorious pitch invasion after we beat Leeds in "that" season which was great fun. Also, when we were due to go to an artificial pitch the fans were actually encouraged to take part of the grass pitch home. Quite a few actually did. It was a bit like Gardners World.

I've still got a bit of the old Astroturf pitch from the last game that season!

I missed that one and you've got a great souvenir which is certainly more sustainable than a clot of turf.

But it sort of begs the question of what do you do with it? I suppose it could be a family hierloom passed to future generations of R's supporters.

I took a large lump of turf home. Had it on my windowsill for a few years, and then put it in my mum's back garden when I moved to Sweden. Lost contact with the grass 17 years ago because it was a council house and my mum died.
Perhaps I should sneak back in the middle of the night and steal it?

I thought anyone could buy grass in Sweden!

If you’re considering going on the pitch tomorrow, please punch yourself in the face.

Agree, particularly frustrating for those in the upper loft, who won't get on the pitch and will miss out on the players showing their appreciation at the end of th season.

If I remember correctly, I went on the pitch after we beat Palace 6-0 but I was a kid and didn't know better. It becomes ridiculous if it becomes an end of season tradition.

The club will be given a significant fine and there’s a real chance they’ll cordon off the first few rows for the last home game next season if it happens, which it will.

I have just seen the 1st team selection.

Can anybody figure out the positions?
I am not even trying as it seems to complex.

Currently, I am not sure that we will win this one - but I hope that I am wrong.

COYR’s!!!!
