Jackett is not a bad shout, but I don't remember him ever doing particularly well at Championship level as manager. But we could take a punt and hope that he turns it all around in one year. If not we could always get another new man in and try again.

Well... I enjoyed the very good goal, yet another from open play. Or was there a dead ball an hour before this one too. The one we let them have was very poor, from both Ned was it out in a RB position?, and Lynch.
The goal we conceded was almost a carbon copy of the one against Birmingham. Their player was free in acres of space and able to cross unchallenged from our right to the back post. I'm sure this has happened before this season but can't think of it off the top of my head. We've been poor when defending crosses this season and believe that both goals conceded v Huddersfield were similar but from our left? I'll have a look later as I'm cooking a Sunday roast at the moment.
Playing 'makeshift' full backs who tend to move inside the way Onuoha does has been a problem for several seasons. We also, as a result, have no outlet for launching counter-attacks down the flanks which results in sideways passes or hoofball. The whole shape of the team appears disjointed with constant chopping and changing of players so there is no continuity or opportunity to develop a style of play that will actually hurt the opposition. It all seems very 'hit and hope', not a recipe for success at this level...
Exactly, it's not hard is it? Get the right players in the right positions. Not having a dedicated right back in the squad before the season started is a footballing crime. When you're starting the game without dedicated full backs you're inhibiting the team in defence and attack as they can do neither job effectively.
Hamalainen was on the bench - I would rather have seen him get another run out at left back. I'd rather see Kakay at right back too, at least it's his natural position.
Yes me too. Hamalainen looked good against Fulham for the short amount of time he had on the pitch.
They are not cutting out crosses at all
I can't understand why he hasn't tried Henry at LB as he played brilliantly when he was there IMO
If you allow crosses in behind then it negates Henry position to shield the two centre halves it seems clubs have this sorted now as an edgy option JFH is setting up thinking teams will play through us and we look fragile on any cross IMO

I don't think it would be as easy as you seem to think. We've tried and failed enough times. So have many other clubs in the division.

Henry at LB? Maybe RB at a push but the fact remains that the club has failed to recruit a dedicated RB. Do you think a dedicated player, playing in his own position is better or worse than a better player being played out of position. It hasn't worked for England which has continually been the case in recent years as it has at QPR. Have a look at the video for the game v Huddersfield. Can you spot what the problem is? Yes we need to cut off the cross in the first instance, but have a look at the defending when the cross arrives. We've conceded too many goals from back post headers. How many goals have we conceded like that this season? What are the coaching staff doing in training? Once or twice maybe and the problem needs addressing, but when the same goal happens over and over again questions need to be asked about the manager and his staff.

Agree Nines it seems to be the same mistakes time and time again. It was the same yesterday, a cross and an unmarked player. We are not professionals yet we can see basic mistakes so why can't the management? This is my main problem with JFH in that he never seems to learn from previous mistakes.
It's like deja-vu all over again Ellers. Soft goals easily conceded and it's not getting addressed. Which is worrying.
Phew, this "period of consolidation" malarkey is a bit ****, innit?
Full backs are supposed to stop the crosses from their own side and tuck in around the centre backs when the threat is coming from the opposite side. Also, they need to be able to defend the far post and be aware of this threat.
What we are seeing is a direct result of not having natural fullbacks in those positions.
Total incompetence.
