Althought their first was a once in a five years shot..The highlights don't do Millwall's first half performance justice.
Smithies save in the first minute was one of his best ever.

Is it a sign of how far we've actually progressed that there's so much negativity around and pointing out players/manager faults/shortcomings because we only drew against Millwall, which in truth last season we'd have rolled over and had our tummy's tickled in similar circumstances. BTW it's a year ago today that Newcastle put 6 past us at HQ, have we forgotten that?
This was always a potential banana skin game, they are no mugs, play in an in your face manner, are on a bit of a roll after winning the play off final at Wembley last May, tonked Norwich 4-0 the other week.
In the end that's a decent point won as we we're still 2 down after 75 minutes, we should be rather pleased with the outcome
Agreed, the defending for their first goal was schoolboy like, what happened to staying goalside of the player?12600. About 1600 Millwall I'd guess.
Smithies made a superb save in the first minute and don't think he could have done anything with the first. Just a great strike. He can't keep them all out.
The defending throughout the game was dire.

I'm not sure why the early penalty shout was not mentioned by Clive. I can't remember which player it was of ours but someone plainly got shoved over in Millwall's box. I was awestruck by how the referee ignored that.
Think the crowd was about 11,000 Stan....It was quite a nasty night and what with the warnings from the club of only approaching the ground from a certain way...May have put people off. Smithies made about 3 good saves, one point blank in the first 5 minutes to keep us in it. Not sure he could do much with their first...it was a screamer and unexpected....but the second maybe.
As I think 999s said...their goalie made a number of outstanding saves whilst continuing to look incompetent....at least twice he parried the ball only just passed our incoming player..Smith in particular twisted nearly in two trying to get a rebound of their goalie that was inches out of his reach....We had 3 off the post/bar....a different night.
However if they had kept 11 on the pitch...we would have been hammered as we didn't really have a clue how to handle their high pressing game and huge forwards. When they went down to 10 they bought on a player (34) to play as an extra CD who was twice the size of Smith.
Although last night I was disappointed with the point...this morning I realise we got away with one

Is that one more than they normally manage?Millwall's appeal against Lee Gregory's red card has been rejected by the FA. He will now serve a three match ban.
Their fans are going monosyllabic on twitter...![]()
