MATCH PREVIEW: QPR V LIVERPOOL
RANGERS return to Premier League action following the international break with a home fixture against Liverpool this afternoon.
Rooted to the foot of the table, R’s boss Harry Redknapp will be demanding an improved performance from his charges in front of the live Sky Sports cameras.
Sunday’s clash will no doubt bring memories flooding back of Rangers’ memorable 3-2 win against the Reds in March 2012, when Jamie Mackie’s last-gasp goal capped an unbelievable comeback under the Loftus Road lights.
Midfield duo Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch are both sidelined with hamstring injuries, but Niko Kranjcar (broken toe) is expected to have an injection in a bid to be fit to play.
Chilean duo Mauricio Isla and Eduardo Vargas are both likely to be assessed before Sunday’s game following their international outings this week.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have endured a surprisingly tough start to the season.
The loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, coupled with a handful of key injuries, has seen the Kopites – who finished runners-up last term – struggle with consistency in the opening two months of the campaign.
Indeed, they currently sit ninth in the top-flight, with ten points from a possible 21.
The Reds could recall fit-again hot-shot Daniel Sturridge to their starting XI following the international break, but defender Dejan Lovren is a doubt with the abdominal injury that saw him withdraw from Croatia’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Bulgaria on Friday.
There are also question marks regarding the fitness of former QPR youth starlet Raheem Sterling, who complained of feeling tired ahead of England’s win over Estonia on Sunday.

PRE-MATCH TALK - LIVERPOOL
R’s gaffer, Harry Redknapp: “I thought Liverpool were great last year. They came up just short, but I think they probably deserved to win it.
“They have lost the fourth best player in the world in Suarez.
“They’ve brought players in but it takes time for them to bed in.
“I don’t see them winning the League but I fancy them to challenge for a Champions League place.”
