Well deserved in the end I thought given Slutsky declared on one goal at half time, took off a forward for a centre-half and set out to spoil the game. The subs were the right ones but it doesn't take a genius to throw strikers on against a team with no interest in attacking. That was Perch's best game for the club IMO. Thought Luongo was great again too.
Perch was an absolute hero. Luongo was very strong, but misplaced a few passes. Scowen was excellent again. I thought it was bizarre how the Hull CBs decided they couldn't beat Smith in the air, so didn't bother to challenge him towards the end. Hull were pretty poor generally, but you can only beat what's put in front of you.
He certainly was poor in the first half but to be fair looked immeasurably better in the 10 mins he had in the 2nd half before he was subbed. Perch was excellent today. What a vital save by Smithies though Scowen looks an excellent acquisition
I was at the game today and on balance I think we deserved the 3 points. Christ knows what happened for their goal. I still can't work out how they scored! Lua Lua was awful. His first spell at the club was bad. Why did we bring him back? Much better after he went off. MOTM was Freeman..................again. Great last 15 minutes too. A lesson to their keeper who was wasting time from the beginning of the second half. It will catch you out one day, you twat! 7 points from 4 games. I would have taken that at 2:59pm on 5th August! We only have to beat Cardiff and Ipswich and I'll be happy!!!! U Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs!!!
I also think that we need to give due credit to Ollie. We were unlucky to be behind at half time, but that is what happens if you do not take your chances. In the 2nd half, Hull went ultra defensive in a 5:4:1 formation and we went 4:3:3. We did not concede after the break which is an improvement, but we were banging our heads on a brick wall defence. I could see us conceding a 2nd goal on the break .. and then our three offensive substitutions which changed the match. I don't know how much was tactics and how much was pure improvisation, and I don't care. Well done QPR! Well done Ollie. COYR's!!!!
I was surprised to see Lua Lua come out for the second half, but he did look a bit better before he was hooked.
Very Championship game. Hull were unambitious until they had to change, in the last six minutes, then looked ok, somehow missing what looked like 3 great chances from the other end of the ground in the space of 5 seconds. We only had one clear chance until the big lumps were on, then looked a lot more dangerous. Washington and Mackie upfront might have worked against Reading, but it didn't here. Smith is a heading machine (and not much else) can't believe he got the better of Dawson so easily. Apart from Lua Lua, who was incredibly wasteful, everybody worked hard. Freeman is a tidy player, why he didn't play more on the left side is beyond me. Pavel is better than the rest, but today he seemed to lack the minerals, perhaps mindful of injury. Sort of exciting and an enjoyable day, but in terms of quality exactly what I expected. This league is a lottery. We could have easily lost this by one, drawn or got the result we did. 3 wins in my last 3 visits, I am prepared to be sponsored to attend future games (please include beer money).
Look at this: http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/injured-qpr-man-defied-holloways-orders-refused-come-off Perch refused to come off even though Holloway told him to. Perch actually had a great game, despite the terrible challenge that led to his own injury. We should partner him with Onuoha instead of Lynch and let Furs grow as a RB.
One swallow doesn't make a summer, but can we see less slating of Perch. He worked like a Trojan all afternoon. Still in W12 and somewhat pissed. What a great game. If only I had managed to get Muse tickets for tonight at the Empire, it would have been a perfect weekend.
