I think all 3 can play the holding role alone absolutely fine. I think it's as much down to Doch being sub par on the ball and not playing well of late.

I think ideally he'd like to play a deep ball player alongside a holder. I'm sure that was the thinking behind Walsh but he had a nightmare debut. Hudd is an option as well against the lower sides. I wouldn't be delighted to see us playing with 2 holding mids against Barnsley but if he does it I can understand it.

Both that and the Posh game are more mustn't lose rather than must win.

Mentioned a while back any points from the games against Fulham, Blunts and DQPR would be a decent return given the venues and opposition . Hopefully we keep the ball a bit better on Saturday. Right now if we score first we seem to grow in confidence but we do need to start scoring again..it helps the cause no end.

There's also zero reason to drop either Smallwood or Slater. Let's ease Alfie back in as slowly as possible. I'd go Bernard at RB but Shota doesn't seem to fancy him, he's benched him almost instantly.

It'll be another grafting performance, it'd be great to see us a bit better on the ball but even against the top sides we are creating good chances, we just aren't taking them. Another point ahead of the next 2 would be great

To be fair, McCann never favoured Bernard over Jones either, he just didn't have the option for the last few months. We got used to the idea of Bernard being a regular starter but he's always been Jones' backup.

Play Forss and Eaves up front together.

Final roll of the dice for Forss. If he’s **** again send him home play a youngster instead.

How often does a centre forward impress in our team?

Magennis had plenty of days where he did nothing, same as Eaves does and Forss has done in his first few games. Before that, Dicko was generally not good enough. Campbell is probably the only striker we've had in the last 5 years who was consistently successful. In our PL years we had a few decent ones when we splashed the cash but more who disappointed, especially when we didn't spend large sums.

It's just not an easy job unless you play in a top team. Everyone expects 20 goals a season from their centre forward but only the top few ever do it.

Being able to control a football would be a start. Put in a meaningful challenge. Offer a pass rather than just hide away behind the big centre half. Actually touch the ball. You know, the very basic things that are pre requisite to being allowed to play in your local pub Sunday league team.

It’s a cliche but Forss genuinely looks like a competition winner. Can’t even say his second touch is a tackle because, he doesn’t have a first touch to begin with and, even if he did, he clearly doesn’t have the balls to try put in a challenge against a grown man.

It’s not a great sample size to go off though is it. Derby when everyone played awful, Fulham when we were dominated and the same at Sheff UTD

I think it's a bit premature to assume Shota doesn't rate Bernard, but he was obviously keen to revert to 2 CBs and on that basis Macca and Greaves made sense even though both left footed. I thought Elder did a decent job out of position and Shota explained he wanted a bit more experience in the back 4 which I get. However, a left footed right back really did limit us attacking on that side, and think Bernard would be a very big threat as an attacking full back. So it's a tricky call!

My guess is a complete lack of game time with Brentford has resulted in him being low on confidence and he has has gone stale. Has to be a player there somewhere. He obviously needed a move and got one…so now it’s up to the player himself.
