Exactly why is he still on with this ref in yellow card overdrive?

Don't clubs get fined for 5 bookings or more?

Probably would have lost anyway but who knows? VAR should be for all or none.

    At least Kipre wasn’t booked.

Well, I know we all moan about refs when it's not going our way, but I can honestly say, without doubt that Mr Linnington takes the honour as the worst, most corrupt ref I have EVER seen.

Odds are we would have struggled to win or even get a point anyhow, but someone somewhere really needs to take a long hard look at his performance because it was completely unacceptable (unless you are a QPR fan, though in fairness even they didn't think it was a red card on their board either).

I think you're right about VAR. Apart from overturning bad decisions, it'll show up just how bad the standard of refereeing is in the EFL. That has to be a plus for all clubs and do away with unnecessary frustrations.

We had the rub with Brookes v Blackburn but definitely the mucky end of the stick with Madley & Linnington in last 2 games.

Are there lessons to be learned here in how to play the officials?

Are our players naive and simply don't know when to stick or twist?

This season in particular we seem to usually be on the wrong end of decisions. Only 1 penalty - missed - I don't recall anyone being red carded against us. We seem to get more yellows than the opposition although we are hardly a team of hulking brutes slicing through the other side.

Quite the opposite in fact. We seem to get cards for desperate tackles or professional fouls to stop breakaways.

Or perhaps we're just not up to it?

We have no back 4 enforcers, we have no physical centre forward, our midfield is lightweight, we don't appear to have pace or guile to get past players.

We have been unfortunate with injuries to Alfa, Collins, Adams, Colwill and Davies which may have altered some of those factors but with a squad of around 30 players surely we should have had sufficient cover - or were some of Morison's signings poor.

Hudson could only play the hand he was given and it looks to me like there are some dud cards in the pack.

If this is repeated on Sunday then we will be in or close to the bottom 3. Not much change from a year ago then. The rest of the season is not looking very attractive.

I would suspect, or even hope that a new manager search is under way, in earnest. Yes Hudson can only play the hand he had been dealt but he just doesn’t have the experience we need to progress. I can’t see us coming back along the M4 this Sunday with any further points on the board. We urgently need someone to take charge of and get the best out of the players we’ve got while at the same time scouting for replacements for those who are not up to it in the January transfer window.

11 fouls and 6 cards, one of which was red. I don't think I've EVER seen a refereeing performance quite like that.

IMO the worst foul of the game was the one committed on Nkounkou, which was rightly carded.

I'm sorry but last night was a write off that no manager should be judged against. We were playing a team in good form, who ping the ball around for fun, so going down to 10 with a joke of a red card and a goal behind to the penalty put us massively on the back foot.
Our players then realise they are ALL walking a tightrope with the ref so have it in the backs of their minds that they could easily join Simpson back in the changing room if they even remotely mistime a challenge and so that limits us further.

We kept trying to play (which was good to see) but were always up against it.

I DO worry about Sunday, just purely based on confidence levels and what kind of team we'll now be able to put out. If Ng is injured, and if we don't successfully appeal Simpson's card then we could see Nelson thrown back in and we'd have to hope Romeo is fit enough to return otherwise we'll have Daley-Campbell at right back.

We could switch to a 5 and have O'Dowda back there instead but we'd then probably have to play Oli Denham in the middle with Kipre and Nelson, which would be a big ask.

Tough decisions ahead and just hope that we don't get a moral sapping heavy defeat again. We know this team CAN play good football and produce results and we have seen it under the current and former manager. It just feels like we need a bit of luck to go our way again now having suffered injustices in the last two games. Admittedly in the Coventry game we were poor but we still should have had something from it!

Funny how quickly things change though. Up until recently the Jack's were worried on their board we'd turn them over as even with some decent results they weren't playing brilliantly, and especially so after their pasting v Burnley. bet they are all cockahoop now and can't wait (I've not popped over to see TBF).

Missed most of last night because of domestic stuff.
Caught we were 2-0 down and a sending off then the full time score.
Hudson becoming a formatiom tinkerman. Needs to settle on a formation to get plan A sorted. Then square pegs in square holes.

Shocking refereeing, very poor player performances and an absolute classic case of inadequacy of management at the club.

Hudson lacks any sort of intensity pitch side. His body language is one of submission to the events going on around him. He has no drive and fails to effect events on the pitch - the game passes him by as if he wasnt there. I sincerley hope he won't be for much longer.

I've no problem forking out my 10 quid to watch City live on CCTV for the midweek away games like last night, but I expect some sort of payback from the club on the pitch. Simpson's sending off put to one side, it was absolute carnage. Player perfomances were well below what we deserve to expect and the tactical management of them is atrocious.

I was over the moon when Sawyers came to the club in the summer based upon what I remember of him five years or so back, but this season he is absolute garbage - last night was almost humiliating. Ojo thinks he has to beat everyone with a run rather than the well known fact that the best way to beat a man is with a pass. He is so slow and ambles around the pitch in the image of Bacuna.

They passed the ball around us and we didn't have a clue on the pitch nor the touchline what to do about it - and don't say it was because we were a man down - we're lucky not to concede another 6 goal hammering like we had under Harris on this ground.

Bright sides? Well there weren't many but O'Dowda looks class. I thought Sang was very tidy when he came on - and that's about it.

He did indeed - only manager I know who can have all four sides of the ground applauding him. He certainly knows how to play to the audience and even did the ayatollah :)

Sawyers is a waste of space. His body language is poor and plays like he looks ie with no real effort or commitment.

A journeyman player who should be pushed out the club once the new manager comes in.

As for Sang, yes he was outjumped for the fortunate third goal but that’s not his position (only there last night temporarily I hope) which is midfield and hope he gets a chance there very soon.

Others brought in look distinctly average - Ojo, Philogene, Etete, Harrison. NK is an enigma.

Who brought in has actually improved the squad from last season? Allsop, Kipre, Romeo, Robinson. O’ Dowda blows hot and cold.

The team they looked rudderless last night even with 11 men. 1 shot on target in past 2 games tells a story.

It’s pitiful watching endless unproductive corners and free kicks.

City need to sort out the managerial situation sooner rather than later and not let it drift. Even if by some extraordinary fluke we get anything on Sunday Tan has to act & not put off the inevitable.
